Police arrest three for making fake IDs

Coppell police arrested three men connected to an illegal document mill that police believe has been active since 2004 in Dallas.

Police could not comment on how the Coppell Police Department became involved in the investigation regarding Efren Medina Martinez, 28, said Lt. Steve Thomas, public information officer for the Coppell Police Department.

Martinez was arrested after an undercover officer called him requesting a false social security card and drivers license. Once the officer and Martinez met on the 10700 block of Harry Hines and the sale was made, Martinez was arrested, Thomas said.

Martinez was booked into the Coppell jail and charged with tampering with a government document, a third degree felony, and delivery or manufacture of counterfeit instrument, a third degree felony.

Once Martinez was arrested, Coppell police had enough information to see where the documents were made and the organized crime unit executed a search warrant May 24.

At the scene, police found approximately 400 documents, Thomas said. “We didn’t expect it to be anything on that level,â€
