TX-Possible Break in Guard Murder Case

Possible Break in Guard Murder Case

DALLAS - Two men arrested for robbing a bank over the weekend may be linked to the death of an armored car guard.

Police said two men were arrested Saturday after they robbed the Chase bank in Balch Springs. Officers caught up with them in a white four-door sedan.

Sources tell FOX 4 the men are now being investigated for a string of armed robberies, including the robbery on Sept. 18 when 48-year-old Crescencio Borquez was shot and killed.

Police said Borquez was at the Chase Bank in the 2400 block of Fort Worth Avenue and was filling the drive-thru ATM with cash when he was gunned down.

Surveillance video shows one suspect fire at Borquez. A white four-door sedan then pulls up and the suspect and his driver take off, police said.

Borquez was a father of two. He had worked as an armored car guard for 15 years.

Investigators believe the same two men can also been seen in surveillance video robbing a Wachovia bank in south Dallas in June.

Sources said they were brought to the Dallas County jail by a federal task force after being arrested. They appeared in federal court Tuesday morning and then were transported to an undisclosed location.

    The FBI had no comment.

Dallas police would only say it is a possibility that the men are murder suspects.

Balch Springs bank robbery suspect accused in death of Brinks security guard

A suspect in a weekend Balch Springs bank robbery is accused of fatally shooting a Brinks security guard in a west Oak Cliff robbery, Dallas police said today.

Enrique Lopez, 25, faces a charge of murder in the death of Cresencio Borquez, a guard who was loading an ATM outside a Chase bank in Dallas on Sept. 18, police said.

Lopez, a Mexican citizen, and his accused accomplice, Jesus Sandoval, a 47-year-old El Salvadoran citizen, made a first appearance in court Tuesday in connection with Saturday's robbery.

Lopez, who agreed to speak with investigators, has admitted his involvement in Saturday's robbery, according to federal court records. Sandoval declined to speak and invoked his right to an attorney.

The FBI and Dallas police believe that fatal robbery is connected to another armored truck robbery in February, as well as two bank robberies this summer.

Authorities will not say whether Lopez was questioned about the other robberies, but Dallas police say they are investigating if the pair was involved.

"The M.O. in [the Balch Springs robbery] is very similar to the M.O.s from the Wachovia bank robberies on June 13 and Aug. 1," said Dallas police homicide Lt. Craig Miller. "We are looking to see if there is any connection between these suspects and the offenses that I mentioned to you earlier."

In the February robbery, two armed men robbed a Loomis armored truck guard outside a Bank of America in the Red Bird area of southern Dallas.

The guard was getting ready to load money into an ATM when a robber put a gun to the back of his head, police said. A second robber came from behind and took the guard's gun and money bag.

Anyone with information about any of the robberies is asked to call Dallas police at 214-671-3684.

I predict it will come to light that these Aholes had prior contacts with the law but ICE was never contacted.
