Two Mexican nationals and a federal agent were injured about 7 a.m. Wednesday when a van operated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement overturned on Interstate 635 in Mesquite, officials said.

The van, which was southbound on I-635, overturned when it struck a barricade on the exit ramp to Towne Center Boulevard, said Lt. Steven Callarman, Mesquite police spokesman.

The ICE agent and the two detainees were taken to Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas where they were treated for non-life-threatening injuries, said Carl Rusnok, spokesman for the ICE field office in Dallas.

The detainees were being taken to the field office for processing, Rusnok said. They had been held earlier at the Rowlett and Garland police departments, he said.
