WASHINGTON — Weeks after a hunger strike orchestrated by college students in San Antonio failed to sway her vote on the DREAM Act, Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison told business leaders Tuesday that she now would work to pass a lesser version of the highly contentious bill, one that would not provide illegal immigrants a path to citizenship.

Hutchison, R-Texas, told the San Antonio group that she could not support legislation that includes “amnestyâ€

What is the point in protecting illegal students here if they don't get citizenship to work? We just want to bring illegals over, pay for their education, and then let them go home off our tax dollars?

Still just a waste of tax dollars and destructive to Americans who want to go to college. We know already this isn't a new form of student visa's where they pay foreigner rates (or out of state whichever it is) and have to provide fully for themselves w/o being able to work.

Just crap, he needs to hurry up and retire already.

Yea, you should see the letter I got from her.

She's for a path to citizenship. "I believe there needs to be a positive and compassionate way forward to allow young students who were brought here under no fault of their own to be educated and find jobs." That talking point came strait from the Democrats.

    Amnesty.

The only reason the dream act passed the house is that spiteful Dems who were voted out of office in November saw a vote in favor as their last defiant act towards their constituents.

Again, her DREAM Amnesty Act advocates IN-State tuition for ILLEGALS who now replace innocent American students in the limited seats in college at a time when over 10% of Americans are out of work and their families are struggling to train for new jobs and pay for college. Why would you support in-state tuition for the ILLEGALS that will attract more future additional ILLEGALS to the United States and train ILLEGALS for jobs it is illegal for them to have. These students should go back to their HOME countries and stop draining our resources that could be used to assist United States Citizens and not the ILLEGALS! Just follow the money! Some of Elitist Politicians and their Elitist Political Contributors want to continue to have United States Citizens pay the benefits for their ILLEGALS while they continue to have their BOTTOM LINES increased at the taxpayer's expense!
