Search Continues for Human Smuggler

Five illegals caught after morning traffic stop

MISSION - Police are searching for a suspected human smuggler, after a foot chase this morning.

It started as a traffic stop about a mile south of the expressway on Conway. The driver of a Chevy pickup truck pulled over. But seconds later, seven people bailed out and ran into the brush.

Police quickly caught up with five illegals. K-9 officers searched the area for the last two people. Officers suspect one of them was the driver.

A Border Patrol plane helped in the search. But after an hour, the search was called off.

Police will now work to find out if the truck was stolen. They tell us the vehicle had invalid paper license plates.
