U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter (06/01/2011)

Border Patrol agents seized over 16,962 pounds of marijuana and 8.2 pounds of heroin. Agents arrested nine criminal aliens and eight gang members. There were four rocking incidents.

Reported on May 26, 2011


Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Hebbronville, Texas. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño 13 gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and previously had been removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 312 pounds of marijuana, a pickup truck, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) and an illegal alien from Mexico near Rio Grande City, Texas. The driver of the pickup truck rammed a Border Patrol vehicle in an attempt to avoid apprehension.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ajo, Arizona. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño gang. Record checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history and previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 929 pounds of marijuana, a pickup truck, a .45 caliber handgun and 21 rounds of ammunition near Benson, Arizona.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 8.20 pounds of heroin, a Toyota pickup truck, and arrested two USCs at the traffic checkpoint near Freer, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the heroin.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,038 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Cuba in Whetstone, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject was a registered sex offender with an extensive criminal history.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,756 pounds of marijuana and recovered a stolen truck near GuVo, Arizona. Agents discovered the abandoned vehicle containing the marijuana concealed under a tarp in the desert. Records checks revealed the truck was reported stolen in the state of Arizona.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. During processing, the subject was identified as a member of the Sureño gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest issued in the state of California for vehicular hit and run and previously had been removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near El Paso, Texas. During processing, the subject admitted to being a member of the Texas Syndicate gang. Records checks revealed the subject had an extensive criminal history, including a prior conviction for assault with a deadly weapon, and previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,690 pounds of marijuana and arrested 10 suspected narcotics smugglers near Lukeville, Arizona.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject was a convicted sex offender and previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents, with the assistance of CBP Office of Air and Marine air assets, located and rescued an illegal alien from Mexico near Choulic, Arizona. The subject was lost in the desert and suffering from severe dehydration. The subject was transported by local emergency medical services to a hospital and admitted for treatment.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Pisinemo, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction in the state of California for lewd or lascivious acts with a child under 14 years and previously had been removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Ocotillo, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior felony conviction in the state of California for sex with a minor and previously had been removed from the United States.


El Paso Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sunland Park, New Mexico. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest issued in the state of Texas for burglary of a habitation and previously had been removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized two rifles and two handguns near Douglas, Arizona. An unidentified subject was observed running south towards the international border fence and agents responded to the area. The subject dropped a duffle bag containing the weapons before absconding into Mexico.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,228 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet Suburban near Escobares, Texas. The vehicle containing the marijuana was found abandoned after agents observed a group of suspected illegal aliens absconding into Mexico.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,773 pounds of marijuana, recovered a stolen Chevrolet pickup truck, and arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near GuVo, Arizona.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,107 pounds of marijuana near Ajo, Arizona. Agents were following the foot sign of suspected illegal entrants when they discovered the marijuana abandoned in the desert.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 4,380 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-tanker, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the tanker and a scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies within the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents uncovered the marijuana. Records checks revealed the driver had an extensive criminal history, including narcotics and firearms violations.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,749 pounds of marijuana and recovered a stolen Chevrolet truck near Ajo, Arizona. An agent following tire sign discovered the truck abandoned in a deep ravine. A search of the vehicle revealed the marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Vamori, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest issued in the state of Iowa for homicide and negligent manslaughter with a vehicle.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 142 pounds of marijuana, a handgun, and arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico near Santa Rosa, Arizona. Agents followed foot sign to a remote area where three backpacks containing the marijuana were discovered. During a search of the area, agents located the subjects and the weapon. One of the subjects previously had been removed from the United States.
