U.S. Border Patrol Weekly Blotter (07/14/2010)

Border Patrol agents seized over 10,743 pounds of marijuana, 97.59 pounds of cocaine, and 12.32 pounds of heroin. Agents arrested five criminal aliens and seven gang members. There was one rocking incident.

Miami Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested two illegal aliens from Mexico after responding to a request for assistance from local law enforcement officials. Records checks revealed both subjects were Sureño gang members with prior criminal histories.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Nogales, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for involuntary manslaughter and had been previously removed from the United States.

El Centro Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Calexico, California. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for lewd and lascivious acts with a minor in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Roma, Texas. Records checks revealed the subject had an active arrest warrant for murder issued in the state of Texas.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Quijotoa, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Sureño 13 gang member, and records checks revealed he had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from El Salvador near Douglas, Arizona. During processing, the subject admitted to being a Mara Salvatrucha 13 (MS-13) gang member. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for aggravated malicious wounding in the state of Virginia and had been previously removed from the United States.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,844 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a United States Citizen (USC) at the traffic checkpoint near Hebbronville, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A search by agents revealed the marijuana inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Guatemala near Casa Grande, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for fondling a child in the state of California and had been previously removed from the United States.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,794 pounds of marijuana near Vamori, Arizona. While conducting routine patrol duties, agents discovered the abandoned marijuana.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Naco, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had an active warrant of arrest for murder issued in the state of New York.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,363 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-tanker, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Sarita, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the tanker. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the tanker, and a search by agents revealed the marijuana.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 23.69 pounds of cocaine, a Chevrolet Trailblazer, and arrested a national of Mexico following a vehicle stop near Fallbrook, California. A Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle and a subsequent search revealed the cocaine concealed inside.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 288 pounds of marijuana, an AK-47 rifle and arrested seven illegal aliens near Hickiwan, Arizona.


Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents arrested an illegal alien from Mexico near Sasabe, Arizona. Records checks revealed the subject had a prior conviction for sexual indecency with a child in the state of Texas and had been previously removed from the United States.


Yuma Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 1,117 pounds of marijuana and a GMC Yukon near Yuma, Arizona. The vehicle was discovered abandoned with the marijuana inside.

Tucson Sector – Border Patrol agents rescued an illegal alien from Mexico near Quijotoa, Arizona. Following a bail-out of a vehicle smuggling load, agents encountered an unconscious and unresponsive female subject in the vehicle. Border Patrol first responders stabilized the subject and local emergency medical services transported her to a local hospital where she was admitted in critical condition.

Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 2,471 pounds of marijuana and a Chevrolet pickup near Escobares, Texas. Agents observed several subjects illegally cross the international border and load suspected narcotics into the pickup. As agents approached the vehicle, the subjects fled the area. The marijuana was discovered in the vehicle.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 12.32 pounds of heroin, a Ford F-150 pickup truck, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Pine Valley, California. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents revealed the heroin hidden in the vehicle.

Laredo Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 678 pounds of marijuana and 11,540 rounds of ammunition near San Ygnacio, Texas. A crew member aboard a Customs and Border Protection Office of Air and Marine air asset observed a vehicle and boat by the Rio Grande River. Due to the suspicious actions of the driver, agents conducted a vehicle stop on the truck and discovered the ammunition inside. Agents returned to the riverbank and discovered the marijuana where the boat made landfall.


Rio Grande Valley Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 188 pounds of marijuana, a tractor-trailer, and arrested a USC at the traffic checkpoint near Falfurrias, Texas. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the trailer. A scan using non-intrusive inspection technology revealed anomalies in the trailer, and a physical search uncovered the marijuana.


San Diego Sector – Border Patrol agents seized 73.9 pounds of cocaine, a Chevrolet Tahoe, and arrested a national of Mexico at the traffic checkpoint near Pine Valley, California. The subject presented himself for inspection and a Border Patrol canine alerted to the vehicle. A subsequent search by agents revealed the narcotics.
