The Koch team was also big time involved in Reel Models: The First Women Of Film.

They're just all over the place........like something tracked around on the bottom of a shoe.

Oh good, another Clinton crony. Wonder why the DHS hasn't looked in to any of these left wing extremist groups she is involved with. Haley Koch should be taken as seriously as Patty Hurst and the Weather Underground.

Students protest police use of force at Tancredo speech
    Call for independent investigation
    By Andrew Dunn

    Updated: Tuesday, May 5, 2009

8 P.M. MONDAY, MAY 4 -- More than a dozen students, parents, staff and community members called for an independent investigation into police use of force at the April 14 protest of former U.S. Rep. Tom Tancredo's speech and into the arrest of student Haley Koch nine days after the event.

Many of them held signs reading "Stop police brutality" and spoke about their experiences at the protest at a public hearing held Monday by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies at the Friday Center. The Department of Public Safety is currently under a regular review of its accreditation.

Students described being forcibly shoved by police officers and said that the police made the situation less safe. They said they did not trust the internal review that DPS does, and called on Chancellor Holden Thorp to convene an independent investigation.

"That's the only way we'll find out what actually happened," senior Charlie McGeehan siad. "Right now, it's our word as students versus the Department of Public Safety."

Tancredo, who was hosted by the new UNC chapter of Youth for Western Civilization, cancelled his speech after police used pepper spray and discharged a Taser to break up protestors who had gathered outside. Inside, two protestors held a sign in front of Tancredo to keep him from speaking.

Police said they were dispersing an unsafe crowd, and did not direct the pepper spray or Taser at anyone.

Koch was arrested April 23 for involvement in the protest.

DPS Chief Jeff McCracken said he wasn't sure how Monday's hearing would affect the department's accreditation.

"I don't know," he said. "This is just one small part of the process."

A group of students and faculty also submitted a formal complaint to DPS. Read that below.

Check back for video of Tuesday's event.

    From the Morehead site:

The Morehead-Cain. It's as much about passion as it is about intellect. And it's as much about what you'll give as what you'll receive. Pursue it and explore the creativity, ambition, and courage that make you a leader. What lies ahead is a lifelong challenge to do more for the world around you than you do for yourself.

This is the Morehead-Cain. Accept it, and create an extraordinary life.
Too bad she doesn't realize how wrong she is on this issue. If she really cared about workers rights, she would call for throwing all illegal immigrants out of the country. The facts are they take jobs away from willing and able workers and drive down wages.

Activists complain about treatment at NC protest

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Three campus activists have filed a complaint about alleged police force and use of pepper spray against protesters angry at the anti-illegal immigration stance of former Colorado congressman Tom Tancredo, who was speaking at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

The complaint was filed with a police accreditation panel against university officers, The News & Observer of Raleigh reported Tuesday.

Campus police chief Jeff McCracken said the complaint will result in a more thorough investigation than had been planned. He said the complaint was filed Monday during a week that the accreditation committee was visiting his department.

"Now that we've received a formal complaint, there'll be a full-blown investigation because of the formal complaint, not because of the circumstances," said McCracken.

Student Anthony Magglione said he had to seek medical treatment after being sprayed.
"I shouldn't be concerned about my safety for going there and chanting," Magglione said. "I was blinded, and I couldn't see anything."

The complaint also contends that on the evening of April 14, when Tancredo was speaking, 22-year-old Haley Koch was thrown to the floor by an officer and into a wall.

"She was bruised for several days as a result of the excessive force," the complaint said. The document also said Koch was arrested the following week outside a class and walked across campus in handcuffs.

"She was visibly and publicly humiliated to set an example that is designed to chill the speech and political activity of other students," the complaint said.

Another woman was grabbed by the hair and eight to 10 other protesters were sprayed in the face with pepper spray, the complaint said.

The complaint also questioned why the political protests ended with several arrests on charges of disorderly conduct while there wasn't harsh punishment during the basketball championship celebration.

"It is clear that the campus police are selectively targeting student activists," the complaint said.

This bunch was nothing but hateful and unruly. They tried to impede Tancredo's free speech rights and as a result of their behavior cause THEMSELVES this trouble and HUMILIATION. I don't believe a darn word they say, they are a bunch of whiners who hope their continual tantrums will get them their way.

Mr. or Mrs. Morehead should be really proud of the freaks who are being awarded with the scholarship in their name.

Koch and her ilk really are deviants gone wild..and more emboldened by the parade of circus performers that is the entire OBAMA administration...just one sideshow after another. Shameful.

Some other projects they have been involved with... Though no one has proven a direct link to their organization yet.

    Phony fliers target project

Jesse James DeConto and Mark Schultz, Staff Writers
CHAPEL HILL - The Greenbridge partners are not apologizing for the condos they're building at the edge of Northside.

And they're offended that someone posing as a Greenbridge representative taped letters to neighborhood mailboxes last weekend announcing that sales of Greenbridge condos would cease.

"If possible, when construction is finished in the fall of 2009, we would like to find a way to turn Greenbridge into something that benefits the community as a whole, and not just the affluent," the letter said. "We want to offer our full apology in regards to the heartache and frustrations caused by this endeavor."

The flip side showed a drawing of a giant construction crane dropping a bomb on a tiny house below.

"Obviously, we're disappointed," said Greenbridge partner Tim Toben.

"It certainly wasn't from us. It certainly doesn't reflect our intention," he said. "Our attorneys have advised us there's a case for fraud and misrepresentation."

On Monday, Greenbridge representatives filed a complaint with the Chapel Hill Police and met with the Rev. Troy Harrison of St. Joseph CME Church located across the street from the construction site and the Rev. Mark Royster, another member of the local Interdenominational Ministerial Alliance.

"My hope is they will appeal to these students who have done this and really ... explain to them that this is not appropriate behavior," Toben said. "It is criminal behavior."

Harrison and Royster are members of the steering committee for the UNC student group United with the Northside Community Now (UNC-NOW). That committee, which includes other local black leaders and UNC faculty members, made demands in an open letter last week that Toben called "uninformed and inflammatory." (See page A7)

    The committee asked Greenbridge to:

    •apologize for a "misleading" promotional video featuring longtime Northside residents;

    •provide a cash payment-in-lieu for affordable homes off the Greenbridge site in the Northside and Pine Knolls neighborhoods, instead of subsidized units within the complex;

    •spearhead property tax relief for low-wealth neighborhoods;

•train and hire local workers; and

    •support nearby businesses.

Toben said Greenbridge is already supporting local employees and businesses. He said there's nothing he or his partners can do about rising property taxes or the off-site affordable housing, which was specifically rejected by the Chapel Hill Town Council when it approved Greenbridge two years ago.

"We think Greenbridge should be willing to do anything that it takes," said UNC-NOW spokeswoman Haley Koch, who believes the Town Council would reconsider because of the community outcry. "If it takes reopening the [permitting process], then we think that they should be willing to do that."

As for the video, Toben said, "We certainly have nothing to apologize for. ... The video was not 'misleading' and we never used the documentary in any way, except to place Greenbridge in the historical context of this area. It was always intended to honor and be highly respectful of these remarkable elders."

The flier posted in Northside last weekend charged Greenbridge with "twisting" the words of the elderly residents the developers interviewed. Rob Stephens, a student member of UNC-NOW, said the group had nothing to do with the fliers, a copy of which came to the Chapel Hill News from the e-mail address greenbridgedevelopments@gmail.com.

In February, UNC-NOW released its own documentary, labeling the seven- and 10-story Greenbridge towers as "two middle fingers to the Northside" and accusing Toben and company of "racist environmentalism."

The complex will feature solar power, rooftop gardens and rainwater recycling. It was recently named by Natural Home Magazine as one of the 10 most sustainable designs in America. The developers are aiming for a "gold" certification through the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.

"Despite what these activists would like you to think, spring sales at Greenbridge have been strong, and construction is on schedule," wrote Greenbridge spokesman Mark Vevle in an e-mail. "We're thrilled that the first tenants will begin to move in less than a year form now."
