Convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante captured

Police have captured convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante after he escaped from prison in Chester County, Pennsylvania, roughly two weeks ago, the Pennsylvania State Police said Wednesday morning.

The state police confirmed the capture at about 8:35 a.m. ET.

The agency has scheduled a press conference for 9:30 a.m.

The manhunt became more intense in the roughly the past 24 hours, upon authorities having learned Cavalcante had a stolen rifle in his possession.

He escaped Aug. 31 from a Pennsylvania prison yard.

"Cavalcante will be placed back behind bars for the rest of his life," state Sen. Katie Muth said on Facebook.
