Dangerous fugitive and convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante.Dangerous fugitive Danelo Cavalcante, a convicted murderer who escaped from prison on August 31, was spotted again on Monday as the search intensified.

Danelo Cavalcante, 34, is an illegal immigrant from Brazil who escaped prison by scaling a wall and climbing over razor wire on August 31st.

Police previously released video of Cavalcante scaling the prison walls to escape Chester County Prison.

Cavalcante was convicted for the murder of his former girlfriend Deborah Brandao who he stabbed 38 times in front of her 2 children.

Danelo Cavalcante is also wanted for a 2017 murder in Brazil.

The roads are shut down near Bucktown, Pennsylvania as the hunt continues for Cavalcante.

Cavalcante is now in the woods armed with a rifle. He stole the gun from an open garage.

POLICE: Pennsylvania Escapee ‘Armed and Extremely Dangerous’ After Stealing Rifle

Police say Pennsylvania prison escapee Danelo Cavalcante is “armed and extremely dangerous” after he stole a rifle from a garage Monday night.

The robbery allegedly occurred at a home 20 miles north of the prison from which 34-year-old Cavalcante escaped, CNN reported.

Police were called to the home shortly after 10:00 p.m. and learned that the homeowner fired shots at Cavalcante with a handgun as he fled. There is no proof that any of the homeowner’s shots struck the fugitive.

Law enforcement discovered footprints that matched Cavalcante’s prison shoes. They followed the prints and eventually found the shoes, abandoned.

The Pennsylvania State Police put a post on X warning residents near where the rifle was stolen to take all precautions:

PSP is pursuing Danelo Cavalcante in the area of Ridge Rd/Coventryville Rd/Daisy Point Rd in South Coventry Twp., Chester Co. He is armed. Residents in the area are asked to lock all doors and windows, secure vehicles, and remain indoors. Do not approach. Call 911 if seen.

Pennsylvania State Police Lt. Col. George Bivens reacted to news of the stolen rifle, saying, “I think [Cavalcante] is just trying to survive and avoid being captured right now.”

Bivens indicated that Cavalcante has tried to make contact with two former work colleagues since escaping from prison nearly two weeks ago.

The stolen rifle is a “.22-caliber,” according to ABC News.

Southeastern Pennsylvania school district said Tuesday that it will be closed as police search for escaped convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante, whom officials say is now armed

The search already resulted in two school districts temporarily closing down last week, and the latest closure comes from the Owen J. Roberts School District in Pottstown.

"As a result of increased police activity in our community related to the pursuit of an escaped inmate from Chester County Prison, and after consultation with state and local law enforcement, we have made the decision to close all schools and offices in our district today," Owen J. Roberts Superintendent Will Stout said.

The Pennsylvania State Police sent out an emergency alert Tuesday stating that officials are searching for Cavalcante "who is armed with a weapon in the South Coventry Township area." Residents are urged to secure their homes, avoid traveling and review any surveillance cameras they may have.

Cavalcante, 34, escaped from the Chester County Prison nearly two weeks ago after he was convicted of killing his former girlfriend, Deborah Brandao, by stabbing her 38 times in front of her two young children.

When Brandao was murdered, Cavalcante also had a warrant for his arrest in Brazil, his native country, for another alleged murder in 2017.
