UPDATE: One Arrested, One Sought After Feds Charge Medical Workers Who Blocked ICE Agents Trying to Arrest Illegal Alien Who Fled Inside California Surgical Center

Federal authorities in Southern California have charged two workers at the Ontario Advanced Surgical Center accused of interfering with ICE agents trying to arrest an illegal alien on July 8 who fled into the medical facility. One worker was arrested Friday morning, the other is being sought according to a report by Fox News reporter Bill Melugin. (Updates at end of article.)

The medical staff at the Ontario Advanced Surgery Center interfered with ICE agents and physically restrained him from doing his job. They should be held accountable and prosecuted for their actions.

DHS statement from July 9 on the incident:

THE FACTS: ICE officers conducted a targeted enforcement operation to arrest two illegal aliens.

Officers in clearly marked ICE bullet proof vests approached the illegal alien targets as they exited a vehicle.

One of the illegal aliens, Denis Guillen-Solis who is from Honduras, fled on foot to evade law enforcement. He ended up near the Ontario Advanced Surgical Center where hospital staff assaulted law enforcement and drug the officer and illegal alien into the facility.

Then, the staff attempted to obstruct the arrest by locking the door, blocking law enforcement vehicles from moving, and even called the cops claiming there was a “kidnapping.”

Per federal law enforcement sources, the two SoCal medical workers seen in a viral video physically blocking an ICE agent from arresting a Honduran illegal alien who had fled into their surgery center in Ontario, CA have both been charged federally & the male was arrested earlier this morning. The female remains at large and is wanted by federal authorities.

I’m told JOSE DE JESUS ORTEGA and DANIELLE NADINE DAVILA have both been charged with violations of 18 USC 111 (assaulting, resisting, or impeding federal agents). Both have a criminal arrest warrant signed off on by a federal judge.

I’m told ORTEGA was arrested by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents this morning, while DAVILA is wanted and federal authorities are actively looking for her now.

…Statement from @USAttyEssayli, who is prosecuting the case:

“This story is another example of a false narrative peddled by irresponsible members of the media in furtherance of a political agenda to delegitimize federal agents. The illegal alien arrested inside the medical center was not a patient and was not in any way affiliated with that location. He ran inside for cover and these medical workers attempted to block his apprehension by assaulting our agents. To be very clear, it doesn’t matter who you are or where you work, if you assault our agents or otherwise interfere with our operations, you will be arrested and charged with a federal crime.”

UPDATE 2: New statement by interim U.S. Attorney for Los Angeles Bill Essayli:

My office has filed federal criminal charges against Jose de Jesus Ortega, 38, of Highland, and Danielle Nadine Davila, 33, of Corona, who are accused of assaulting and interfering with an ICE investigation earlier this month at a surgery center in San Bernardino County.

The media originally reported that the illegal alien was taken during a medical appointment. That was false. The illegal alien arrested inside the surgery center was not a patient. He ran inside for cover and these defendants attempted to block his apprehension by assaulting our agents.

It doesn’t matter who you are or where you work, if you assault our agents or otherwise interfere with our operations, you will be arrested and charged with a federal crime.
