Now in order for those jobs to be filled with H1-Bs, an American has to be fired. These are not new jobs in which the best American competes with the best Indian for the job. No, these are jobs that were productively held by American citizens and they are replaced to make room for H1-Bs. No wage increase there, huh? And the 'four or five support jobs created'? Again, these are American held positions in technical support in which Americans are fired (as quietly as possible) from their jobs and these vacated positions magically show up as "new" jobs which are again in need of "talent" which can only be filled by job seekers from India with H1-Bs. Not much wage growth for Americans there...

Dear member,
Sub: Update on: Congressional action on
employment-based immigrant visas
The Senate Judiciary Committee approved a measure yesterday by a vote of 13-3
that would provide significant interim relief on employment-based immigrant
visas and of H-1B temporary visas for specialty occupation professionals, while
also satisfying its $300 million budget reconciliation obligation. The final measure
differed from that originally proposed by Chairman Specter due to amendment by
Senator Feinstein.
In short:
· The measure would take three interrelated steps to ease the shortage of
employment-based immigrant visas:

California Man Arrested in H-1B Visa Scheme

Last week, a Riverside, Calif. man was arrested for allegedly filing almost 1,000 fraudulent documents with the U.S. Department of Labor and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in an effort to obtain H-1B visas for illegal aliens, according to an ICE press release. Over the course of more than 10 years, Vista allegedly sought work visas for more than 550 aliens, whom he claimed were going to work at companies he owned. Vista charged the aliens, many of whom are now being deported for overstaying their tourist visas, between $7,000 and $12,000 to file a petition.
Many of the aliens were granted work visas, but the jobs often did not exist because his “shellâ€
