US resumes program in which deported Venezuelans are flown back to country of origin, White House

Such flights were halted over the past few years, except for a period in 2023 under then-President Joe Biden.

The White House says Venezuelans who have been deported from the U.S. are being flown back to their country, after a two-year pause the program.

"Repatriation flights to Venezuela have resumed, with Ambassador @RichardGrenell overseeing the first two flights," the White House wrote on the social media platform, X Monday. "MAKE AMERICA SAFE AGAIN."

The post came as Venezuelan planes returned to the Latin American country from the U.S. carrying about 190 deported Venezuelans.

Such flights were halted over the past few years, except for a period in 2023 under then-President Joe Biden.

“This is the world we want, a world of peace, understanding, dialogue and cooperation,” Venzuela President Nicolás Maduro said about taking back the migrants, according to ABC News.
