Usual suspects whine about REAL ID Act

    http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/l ... id16m.html

Immigrant advocates say new law unfair to Latinos

    By Christine Willmsen

    Immigrant advocates in Seattle see a new law designed to prevent illegal immigrants {criminals} from getting driver's licenses as an attack on Latino communities across the state. {They need to be deported}

More than 50 people crowded the steps of St. Mary's Church in Seattle yesterday to learn more about the effects of the REAL ID act, which was signed into law by President Bush last week.

Under the anti-terrorism law, federal agencies will not accept driver's licenses from Washington and nine other states that issue licenses to illegal immigrants.

Jorge Quiroga, a board member of the Committee for General Amnesty and Social Justice, said the government continues to attack illegal immigrants.

"We're easy prey for the government and its economical problems," said Quiroga. "We do the work that nobody wants to do. We're the scapegoat."

He also urged Gov. Christine Gregoire not to implement the law, which was sponsored by House Judiciary Committee Chairman James Sensenbrenner, R-Wis.

It's unclear where Gregoire stands on the law, which will go into effect in 2008. Should she not implement the law, then Washington state licenses would not be accepted as identification to board an airplane or enter a federal building or park.

"This sensible legislation is aimed at preventing another 9/11-type attack by disrupting terrorist travel and bolstering our border security," Sensenbrenner said in a press release. "Giving state driver's licenses to anyone, regardless of whether they are here legally or illegally, is an open invitation for terrorists and criminals to exploit."

Maribel Martinez, originally from Mexico, said the law will have long-lasting effects on everyone and will do little to prevent another terrorist attack. She declined to give her immigration status.

"It will create a second class with some people being identified as undocumented individuals, which has a connotation of being illegal or criminal," said Martinez, 29, of Seattle. "My biggest fear is that people are going to be targets. There's a strong sentiment against immigrants."
Maria Fernandez, president of the Committee for General Amnesty and Social Justice, told those who attended yesterday's meeting not to feel alone.

"Don't feel abandoned. Together we have to fight," she said.

Hilary Stern, director of CASA Latina, an organization that helps Latinos find work, said safety is another issue for everyone, specifically on the roads.

Since illegal immigrants will not be able to get licenses, they won't be able to carry vehicle insurance, she said.

"They aren't going to stop driving because they can't get a driver's license, so if they get in an accident they will be uninsured," she said.

Stern said another effect of the REAL ID act could be an expansion in the underground market for forged documents.

Jorge Quiroga, a board member of the Committee for General Amnesty and Social Justice, said the government continues to attack illegal immigrants.
Why is this suppose to be a bad thing? They are criminals. They need to be deported, not licensed. I can only hope the government continues to attack illegals, only I wish the would do a much better job of it.

"We're easy prey for the government and its economical problems," said Quiroga. "We do the work that nobody wants to do. We're the scapegoat."
Your a criminal and a petty wage thief. Quit trying to act like your the victim. Go home and become Vicentes problem. Go ask him to take care of you. Your right, you do the jobs that nobody else wants to do. That's why 30 percent of our prison population nation wide are illegal aliens doing the jobs that Americans won't do like murder, rape, lie, cheat, steal, deal/smuggle drugs, smuggle humans, register for gangs, etc. That's what these illegals do. Most of these heinous illegal alien criminals who committ some of the most hideous crimes on American citizens masquerade as dishwashers and landscapers. Just ask the family of officer Donald Young who was brutually murdered in Colorado by one of you border hopping pests.

Maribel Martinez, originally from Mexico, said the law will have long-lasting effects on everyone and will do little to prevent another terrorist attack. She declined to give her immigration status.
She declined? Gee I wonder why that is? If that aint an obvious hint?

"It will create a second class with some people being identified as undocumented individuals, which has a connotation of being illegal or criminal," said Martinez, 29, of Seattle. "My biggest fear is that people are going to be targets. There's a strong sentiment against immigrants."
Maria Fernandez, president of the Committee for General Amnesty and Social Justice, told those who attended yesterday's meeting not to feel alone.
Stop with this victim nonsense. The only strong sentiment is against invaders, not immigrants. All criminals should be targetted, that's the way it should be.

Since illegal immigrants will not be able to get licenses, they won't be able to carry vehicle insurance, she said.
Oh please! Since when do illegals ever obey the law in the first place. I'm pretty sure William can attest to this that even if illegals get a drivers licenses they still never bother to get insured. They just flee the scene of an accident and force the victim to pay for the damages out of his/her own pocket.

"They aren't going to stop driving because they can't get a driver's license, so if they get in an accident they will be uninsured," she said.
Give me a break. Again if an illegal is going to get rewarded for breaking the law by receiving a drivers license then what incentive do they have of getting insurance? Why? Insurance probably cost too much for them anyway so they'll drive without it and take their chances. If they don't obey the laws to get here then why should we trust them to do the same now?

Stern said another effect of the REAL ID act could be an expansion in the underground market for forged documents.
So what? Like they don't use fake ID's now. Whatever?

That's right...Seattle....they aren't supposed to have driver's licenses to begin with....they aren't supposed to drive a car in the United States if they are here illegally.....they aren't supposed to have insurance because they aren't supposed to have an American Insured Car because they aren't supposed to have an American Job to pay for it because they aren't supposed to have a Driver's License issued by some illegal alien aiding and abetting state government because:

THEY AREN"T SUPPOSED TO BE HERE!!!

Tell your aliens in Seattle....we don't want their "work". If Americans "won't" do the work....which is a myth, (polite word for fabricated nonsense in some circles called a bold faced lie), then it's NOT WORK WE WANT DONE HERE.

    Go Home!!!

If our supposed DEFENDERS OF THE CONSTITUTION upheld our laws we wouldn't have this POLICE STATE ID. But the dishonest will get around it and then everyone will need a chip implanted in them to prove who they are.

I will continue to fight against the Real ID

    EXACTLY!
And the 364 thousand dollar question is ........"WHY NOT JUST CREATE A LAW stating the obvious - NO LICENSING OF ILLEGALS" instead of this huge monstrosity called the "real id?"

One law would have been sufficient! Why was this expanded to affect AMERICANS? Yes, dishonest people, no matter what their nationality, will be able to get around it in a matter of months when it's enacted.

Yup...I agree....but here is how I felt about the RealIDAct....it was something....better than nothing....to start showing some turn of the tide...and we can amend it to eliminate American Citizens. We don't need this crap. The aliens need to go home...but we'll get the fence and the IDACT prohibits driver's license for aliens without the ID....it's something, but I am opposed to it for American Citizens....that's an invasion of privacy.

Also....when it starts to be understood by Americans as it will affect them all....then the whole Nation will Wake Up....and hopefully say...NO....just send the aliens packing; do your job and close the border; prosecute those responsible for this disaster and leave the rest of us alone.

What I liked about it was the border fence and the deportation without years of court rulings and wrangling...I don't know why in the dingdong they're entitled to a hearing..they're here illegally and that's the END of the story.

RR, imho, this is how they get us by the throat.
Why did we need this travesty in order to BUILD A FENCE???

There is NO reason that the BUILDING OF A FENCE needed to be in a massive "act" or "law." Where is the logic? There isn't any. Never logic with the legislators.

    Therefore, WHAT'S THEIR TRUE GOAL?

2ndAmendsis--You raise an excellent Point--what was their true goal???

I don't know on that Act. That one went through pretty quick. I thought it was to keep the state's from issuing driver's licenses....but now I'm not sure. It still does that....at least that's how I read it....but something grander is in play with the ID Card for American Citizens. Why is that necessary for 290,000,000 American Citizens to keep what they tell us is 10,000,000 aliens 3% from getting driver's licenses.

Our roads are almost all federal highways, so state's have the right possible to issue driver's licenses but they don't have the right to spew illegal aliens with driver's licenses onto federal highways unless federal law allows that privilege...which it doesn't AND never has.
