Blair Introduces National ID Card Plan

Prime Minister Tony Blair unveiled plans Tuesday to tackle terrorism and introduce Britain's first national ID card since World War II, detailing an ambitious legislative agenda that set him on a collision course with members of his Labour Party.

Blair said the program would safeguard Britain's economic stability, continue investment in schools and hospitals and "protect our citizens from terrorism and crime."

Blair defended plans for national identity cards and said they should be introduced soon for "foreign nationals entering Britain on more than a short-term visa."

The agenda for the next 18 months likely will test Blair's authority because he was re-elected this month with a severely reduced majority in Parliament.

.but something grander is in play with the ID Card for American Citizens. Why is that necessary for 290,000,000 American Citizens to keep what they tell us is 10,000,000 aliens 3% from getting driver's licenses.

At least Blair admits to it being a National ID.

They abolished the british National ID in 1953 because Police would stop common people and demand to see their id. Not suspects but every day people. The police abused their power. OIf course they would never do that in the United States.

Here....they'll only be stopping American Citizens....because as we all already know.....Aliens are "Untouchable" and above the law.

There is NO reason that the BUILDING OF A FENCE needed to be in a massive "act" or "law." Where is the logic? There isn't any. Never logic with the legislators.

I believe you'd have to talk to the environmentalists about that....they were the ones that stopped the fence. A new act that shut them up was needed.

They didn’t need an act, we have the Constitution that tells us the Federal Government is supposed to protect our borders.

You're right....we didn't need an Act. We just needed an appropriation to build the fence.

I think we're all well aware of that. That our laws are not being enforced is another thing that's quite obvious to all. If they were, none of us would be here screaming...ENFORCE OUR LAWS!!
