VA: Immigrant group will meet at University of Richmond
Immigrant group will meet at UR
Saturday, Jun 30, 2007 - 12:08 AM
A national coalition that includes immigrant, labor and human-rights activists, and religious and student activist organizations has scheduled its annual conference at the University of Richmond School of Law.
The three-day gathering of the National Immigrant Solidarity Network, a grass-roots organization, is scheduled July 27-29. UR is not sponsoring the event, it is renting space to the group.
The event is open to the public.
The conference will feature films, speakers and workshops that include militarization of borders, and labor and multiethnic organizing. The group will also discuss the debate on immigration.
"We want to work with Virginia-based organizations, and we plan to set up a chapter there in the future," the organization's national coordinator, Lee Siu Hin, said in a telephone interview from California.
