Some Rio Grande Valley residents will soon be heading to Austin to send a message to those supporting anti-illegal immigrant bills.

Three civil rights organizations are inviting anyone from the Valley to join them on the caravan.

The League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), the Dr. Hector P. Garcia American G-I Forum and the Brown Berets said they want to spread democracy and show legislators in Austin that they are against what they call anti-illegal immigration bills that have been introduced to the legislature.

Those bills include HB 22 and HB 292.

HB 22 includes a clause stating that each school district and open-enrollment charter school shall determine the citizenship and immigration status of each student at the time of the student's enrollment.

HB 292 states that a child born in this state is a united states citizens only if at least one of the child's parents is a citizen-a national of the united states or an immigrant who was lawfully admitted to this country for permanent residence.

These organizations will be gathering at Edinburg's Veteran Memorial Park for a Rally at 1 p.m. Sunday.

Then they will hold a sendoff for the caravan heading to Austin.
