This would be awesome, but the dems will never let it pass, and surely obama would veto. Another good reason to elect a true conservative as President, someone who would sign a bill like this! A lot of the current candidates would NOT sign.

Lets hope at least one of the bills, either Vitter's in the Senate or Steve King's in the House can be passed or attached to something and the Republicans can get 6 Loyal Democrats in the Senate to support Americans for once on something as important as stopping the pure mockery of US citizenship.

I guess we need a bill like this, but really the writers of the 14th Amendment were clear about its not pertaining to foreigners. A little research into the debates leading up to the publication of the 13th, 14th, and 15th Amendments would confirm this.

The one case decided by the Supreme Court - Wong Kim Ark, I think - actually concerned the son of people who were deemed to have become permanent residents. So the highest court has never held that there is such a thing as birthright citizenship.
