Voting rights sought for non-citizens
NEW YORK, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- Immigration activists packed a New York City Council hearing to demand non-citizens be allowed to vote in municipal elections.
The council is considering whether to let residents who have been in the city six months or longer vote in local elections. It's an idea Mayor Michael Bloomberg vehemently opposes, the New York Post said.
The activists said an estimated 1 million New Yorkers, about 20 percent of the adult population, don't have voting rights, although they pay $18.2 billion a year in state income taxes.Support our FIGHT AGAINST illegal immigration & Amnesty by joining our E-mail Alerts at http://eepurl.com/cktGTn

Americans who are living as mere residents overseas do not have that privilege. In New York City non-citizen voting was closely associated with corruption and the Tammany Hall machine.
I support enforcement and see its lack as bad for the 3rd World as well. Remittances are now mostly spent on consumption not production assets. Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)
