Video of 287g mtg Waukegan-elvira connection!
http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/news ... eo.article
I'm sorry to post this here but I wanted it to accompany the article and pictues I posted. When your city applies for 287g you will follow our path. So learn from us. Scroll down to see the video.
I don't think you will be happy to see it. Guess who was there? Emma Lozano, wife of Slim Coleman who is harboring Elvira at a storefront church in Chicago.
Emma Lozano, director of Centro Sin Fronteras in Chicago, and a few others chanted "No to 287" in Spanish during the meeting before being quieted down by Graf.
Jose Guzman, a leader of the Labor Council for Latin American Advancement in Waukegan, said, "The immigration issue is a federal issue and it has nothing to do with the city or the state."
I do not care for these outside groups trying to say what direction our city is going...

Laws do not apply to the lawless. But if the shamnesty passed they would say that applies. Once and for all we must stand tall and get our laws enforced! Living and breathing our duty as Americans we know that freedom is not free and the lion never sleeps. We are the king of the jungle.
We are NOT a nation of immigrants!

I just thought I'd post what the letter and the 'contract' that this church wrote to our Mayor. When the 'contract' was read, our Mayor said "I promise" after every paragraph. Why is the church getting so involved in politics?
Here's the 'contract'....
As Mayor of the City of Waukegan, I agree to the following:
That if granted Section 287g powers by the ICE, the city of Waukegan WILL ONLY USE this authority to prosecute major felonies, such as murder, child abuse, and rape.
That the City WILL NOT USE it's section 287g authority to deport unlicensed drivers, immigrants without legal identification. or those guilty of minor traffic violations or other minor offenses.
That in no instance will the city participate in or condone ICE raids on employers or other community institutions.
That the City will not tolerate any police and other public servants using the ICE authority to threaten immigrants with deportation or to engage in racial profiling.
That because the City recognizes and values the contributions immigrants make to the local economy and community we will work for reforms (such as drivers certificates) that can enable immigrants to participate more fully and confidently in public life.
That the City will report to Holy Family Human Concerns United Front and the wider community on a quarterly basis how these ICE powers have been used.
As members of Holy Family, we agree to:
Share the above commitments widely within our parish community,
Encourage our fellow parishioners and neighbors, immigrant and native born, to observe the laws of Waukegan and the state of Illinois
Work to improve relations among all residents of Waukegan.
Encourage legal residents to become U.S. Citizens and fully participate in public life.
Here's the general letter.....
Dear Mayor Hyde:
We, the people of Holy Family, Immaculate Conception and Queen of Peace wish to go on record as being vehemently opposed to the recent resolution of the Waukegan City Council in which they authorized Waukegan Police Department to seek authorities as specified in 287g.
We represent over 5000 families in the Waukegan area. You, as a family man and a teacher have the very same values that so many of us have and we request that you reconsider the position that the city has taken.
There are over Twelve Million undocumented immigrants in our great country. Deportation and separating families are surely not the answer. Our federal congress is currently considering the immigration matter and we question the need for our local government to take such dramatic and drastic steps at this time.
We, the people whom you and the city council represent, both citizens of the United States and our brothers and sisters who have come to the U.S. as our fathers and mothers did, seeking opportunity and a better way of life share your concerns for the removal of dangerous felons from our streets and neighborhoods. We feel that the city officials and it's Police Department have the necessary authority to accomplish this task without the added unnecessary powers of 287g.
Respectfully, we ask that you rescind this resolution and take the initiative to bring our community together through dialogue an cooperation. The streets of Baghdad are in shambles because people of that city are not able to communicate with each other.
Peace,
Fr. Gary Graf

Family, Immaculate

You got to be kidding me!! A church coming up with a "contract" with the mayor. This is insane. ICE makes the rules and in Nashville and in Charlotte they have to process ANYBODY who comes into the system. I don't know if they can pick and choose who they can or cannot. However, they can release them with a Notice to Appear. Murderers, rapists, and the like would be processed ANYWAY, so there is NO reason for the program if you are not going to use it on anybody else.
They may get surprised....in Nashville, they thought it would be that way also, but the Sheriff said he had NO choice. EVERYBODY gets checked!
What are they going to do after they let people go and they wind up killing somebody later. That is exactly what happened in Nashville. Our last death would have been avoided if 287g had be active a year ago and this man committed NO major felonies. Is the Mayor prepared for the consequences. WHAT ABOUT DRUNK DRIVING? Nearly all people who kill somebody has been caught at least ONCE before for drunk driving.

Hi Gofer,
I don't know what our Mayor was thinking. We've had so many lawsuits against the City, I'm surprised he would publicly say some of these things.
What ever happened to 'Church and State' being separate? Well, I've been a parisioner at one of the churches that let their name be used on this flyer, for 22 years. I just got done writing them a letter stating that I am switching churches. I don't agree with what they did, and they act like they are speaking for all of their parishioners....not this one!Bless my friends and family, and God Bless America!

Gofer you are so right. Do you have more information about how the sheriff had no choice? Of course that is how we want it in our town do and not to cater to the demands of this priest and his illegal aliens.
