Must be some associates of the woman, who else would know her phone number? If she is an illegal, the Metro insurance may not pay a dime on her death.

WASHINGTON - The family of a woman killed Monday is dealing with more than just grief in the aftermath of Metro's deadliest accident in history.

The family of Ana Fernandez says they have been getting hate-filled telephone messages about whether or not Fernandez, a mother of six, was a legal immigrant.

Her family gathered outside her Hyattsville apartment Wednesday. A crying woman who identified herself as Ana's sister said the accusations aren't true.

"Right now, the whole family is in pain. She was here legally, and all her children are legal. They were born here."

She says she's grateful for the genuine expressions of sympathy, but has a message for the people who have been making the harassing calls.

"We all work, OK? And we're going to get through this."

She says they want to focus on remembering a hardworking, loving mom.

"She was a great sister, great cousin, she meant a lot to us."

Ana's oldest daughter, Evelyn, says her mom was a helpful person who "loved going to church" and "singing."

"She taught us respect."

Evelyn vows to keep all six children together.

"She did the impossible. If she did it alone, I can do it alone too."

Excellent question, due to privacy laws that's not something that would be published in the newspaper.

But she could be listed in the phone book. Its low down.......

This may not be happening at all, you know. It's sad to even have to consider that possibility but in this day and age people do some pretty pretty low things in order to further an agenda and/or try to rake in donations.
