Illegal immigrant enters plea in 2006 killing of Forks man

Mar 21, 2007

PORT ANGELES, Wash. An illegal immigrant has pleaded to the killing of a Forks man a year ago.

Thirty-year-old Noe Cordova entered a modified guilty plea yesterday in the April killing of 46-year-old Robert Coberly.

By entering an Alford plea, Cordova maintains his innocence but admits evidence in the case could lead to a conviction by jury.

Cordova was arrested after Coberly was found shot at Cordova's home.

He said that Coberly had come at him with a knife and that the shooting was self-defense.

Investigators determined that the knife found in Coberly's hand was placed there after he was shot.

Cordova faces three years in prison and deportation.
