Texas State Senator and ardent Wendy Davis ally Sylvia Garcia (SD-6) will be participating in a Service Employees International Union (SEIU) “fast” to promote “immigration reform,” according to a recent press release submitted to Breitbart Texas.

Garcia’s efforts are part of the “Fast for Families” bus tour, a nationwide pressure campaign led by Democrats to encourage Republicans and the House Majority Leader, Eric Cantor, to allow amnesty to millions of illegal immigrants and aliens.

Garcia will be traveling on a bus, along with other Democrat leaders, to Cantor’s hometown of Richmond, Virginia where the four day fast will take place.

Senator Garcia has quickly risen as a key ally to Texas Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Wendy Davis in multiple public appearances and Senate Floor votes since her 2013 election. In March 2013, Progress Texas implored activists to commend Senators Davis and Garcia for their stand against the draft budget before the legislature. In June 2013, Texas Monthly noted how Garcia stood by Davis' side throughout the abortion safety showdown. Fort Worth Weekly covered Garcia's participation with Davis taking part in Planned Parenthood Action Fund's "Stand With Texas Women" bus tour in July 2013.

Garcia was elected in 2013 in a special election to replace the late Sen. Mario Gallegos. She previously held positions as a judge in Houston and was the first Latina elected to the Harris County Commissioner’s Court in 2002.
