An 18-year-old man was killed Thursday night in a shooting that may have been gang-related in Chicago's Little Village neighborhood on the West Side.

Vincent Guerrero was shot in the forehead by a male assailant in the 2800 block of South Avers Avenue shortly before 10:30 p.m., authorities said. Guerrero, of the 5800 block of South Troy Street, was pronounced dead at 10:52 p.m. at Mt. Sinai Hospital, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.

The shooting may have been gang-related, because Guerrero was known to have gang affiliations, said Chicago Police Officer Laura Kubiak.

The assailant was last seen wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt and black jeans, Kubiak said. No one was in custody this morning.

Harrison Area detectives were investigating.
