Provo teen abused, threatened for months

(KSL News) An illegal immigrant from Mexico has been accused of sexually abusing a 16-year-old Provo boy.

Last week, the victim and his mother reported the abuse to the Provo Police Department, saying 39-year-old Pedro Hugo Rodriguez forcibly sodomized the boy several times since January, 2008.

The victim told police he met Rodriguez at the Orem Recreation Center and that Rodriguez offered him a good-paying job. Several days later Rodriguez convinced the teen to spend the night at his home since they would be leaving early to get to a job.

During the night Rodriguez offered the victim money to allow him to sodomize him. When the victim refused, Rodriguez showed the boy several guns and told him he would kill him if he didn't cooperate.

Rodriguez then forcibly sodomized the boy and told him he would kill him and his family if he told anyone.

Police say the abuse continued for several months and if the victim ever refused to cooperate, Rodriguez would point a gun at the victim and threaten him.

The abuse occurred in the area of 1100 North 750 West in Provo and for the last two months in the area of 8800 South 5600 West in Payson.

The teen told police he believed there were other victims. Police know who they are and will be interviewing them.

During a search of Rodriguez's home in Payson Thursday, police found three semi-automatic .22 caliber rifles, child pornography and evidence Rodriguez was making child pornography.

Rodriguez, who is in the United States illegally from Mexico, was booked into the Utah County Jail on 24 counts of aggravated sexual abuse and three counts of possession of a weapon by a restricted person.
