WINDSOR, Ont. — Frustrations are mounting for the mayor of Windsor, Ont., following a meeting with a Florida businessman who allegedly has sent refugee claimants to the border city.

Mayor Eddie Francis met with Jacques Sinjuste from the Jerusalem Haitian Community Centre in Florida, who told him another busload of refugees is expected to arrive in Windsor next week.

In Calgary, meanwhile, Public Safety Minister Stockwell Day warned Friday there will be “consequencesâ€

The invasion of Canada begins!

The mayor of Windsor says an influx of more than 300 Mexican and Haitian refugees is pushing city services to their limit.

Eddie Francis says 185 of those people have been granted social assistance.

The Salvation Army says the border city's shelters are close to full and can't accommodate many more people.

Housing some refugees in hotels and paying them social assistance is costing the city hundreds of thousands of dollars.

Mr. Francis has written the provincial government asking for help with the costs.

He also wants the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada to expedite the refugee claims to ease the strain on Windsor.

Since when are illegals refugees? Aren't refugee's people that leave due to war or some natural disaster?

Mexican and Haitian nationals in recent weeks have cascaded into Canada from Southwest Florida seeking refugee status.

Hundreds have arrived at the Michigan-Ontario border with applications filled out by the Jerusalem Haitian Community Center in Naples.

Civil-rights leaders have denounced the social service agency because they say it has been charging undocumented immigrants for its services and giving them false hopes of legal status in Canada.

Executive Director Jacques Sinjuste said he has requested donations, not payment, and sent people to Freedom House in Detroit, a shelter for refugees seeking asylum in the United States and Canada.
