A Yuma police officer and a Yuma Border Patrol agent arrested two men late Thursday night on suspicion of possession and transportation of marijuana.

According to Yuma police, the officer and the agent were patrolling the parking lot of Motel 6, 1445 E. 16th St., when they observed two males acting suspicious near a Lexus sedan.

A total of 61 plastic-wrapped bundles of marijuana were found in the vehicle, according to the report, weighing 73 pounds with an estimated street value of $36,500.

The drugs and Lexus sedan were turned over to the YPD Narcotics Unit.

Arrested were 34-year-old Jose Martin Del Real Lecuanda, a legal resident alien, and Miguel Aguilar, 20, an undocumented alien of Mexico. Both were booked into the Yuma County jail on charges of possession and transporting marijuana.

The Yuma County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit also assisted with the investigation.
