Protest rising against jump in taxes
Daily News Wire Services
Updated: 02/27/2009 08:21:28 AM PST
SANTA MONICA - A protest against rising local, state and federal taxes is planned for this morning at the Santa Monica Pier.
What is dubbed the ``Los Angeles Tea Party'' will feature speakers, including actress Victoria Jackson, explaining ``what can be done to get our voices heard that we're displeased with the budget, stimulus package and extra taxes we're going to bear because of the new budget," said Ashley Ingram, a Republican activist and one of the event's organizers.
The event is part of the ``Nationwide Chicago Tea Party,'' which is urging members of Congress to ``repeal all your irresponsible spending bills'' or ``we will retire you at the ballot box in 2010.''
It is organized by operators of the Top Conservatives on Twitter Web site.
There will be no actual dumping of tea into Santa Monica Bay because ``we want to prove Republicans can be ecologically friendly,'' Ingram said.
The event comes a week after Republican Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law an estimated $12.8 billion tax increase that he said was necessary to eliminate a projected $40 billion budgetary shortfall.
The federal budget proposal unveiled Thursday called for increasing taxes on households earning more than $250,000 a year to provide for increased health care.
``We've had it with irresponsible politicians using us as an ATM,'' Ingram said.
``Just like the average family, it's time for them to live within a a reasonable budget.''

HOUSTON
Group Protests Bank Bailout Plans
POSTED: Friday, February 27, 2009
UPDATED: 5:58 pm CST February 27, 2009
HOUSTON -- Some Houstonians voiced their displeasure about President Barack Obama's bailout plans on Friday, KPRC Local 2 reported.
More than 100 protesters armed with signs and banners held a rally at Discovery Green.
The group said they were upset that their tax money is going to banks and people facing foreclosure.
One woman said the president and government's decisions were negatively affecting future generations.
"We don't want the pork," Dana Drones said. "We don't want to bail out our neighbors. We don't want to rob from my children. We don't want to rob from anybody's children."
Obama said Thursday that he is budgeting for a $750 billion bank bailout this year. He said that by saving the banks they'll be able to extend loans to small businesses, which will create jobs.

Hundreds rally in Fort Worth against Obama stimulus program
By AMAN BATHEJAabatheja@star-telegram.com
Protesters angry over government bailouts sign petitions at the Tea Party '09 outside the Cowtown Sports Bar on West Camp Bowie Boulevard on Friday.
FORT WORTH -- Hundreds of ardent critics of the Obama administration's strategy for stimulating the economy rallied in west Fort Worth Friday afternoon, one of several rallies held in cities around the country.
Chanting "No more pork!" and "No more bailouts!" most stood outside Cowtown Sports Bar and Grill for hours, cheering and waiving signs at the drivers passing by on Camp Bowie West Boulevard.
"I bet there's not a single person here today who wants to pay their neighbor's mortgage," Tarrant County Republican Chairwoman Stephanie Klick said to hollering applause. She estimated that more than 250 had turned out.
The event, called a "Tea Party," was inspired by comments CNBC anchor Rick Santelli made last week regarding President Obama's plan to address the high foreclosure rate. Santelli proposed holding a "tea rally" in opposition to the administration's stimulus spending. Rallies were held in several cities including Washington D.C., Dallas, Tampa, and St. Louis.
Carrying a sign that read "News flash: There is no money," Mindy Wood of Fort Worth said the far left is using the economic crisis as an opportunity to stage a "Marxist revolution" within the federal government.
"I've been getting more and more frustrated as the days go by," Wood said.
Despite the criticism from some lawmakers in Austin, most in attendance approved of Gov. Rick Perry's recent remarks that he may not accept all the stimulus money slated for Texas.
"This isn't about Obama. This is about taxation," said Rick Ledoux, 50, of Fort Worth. "No one's saying do nothing. That's a straw man. We're saying do the right thing."
Ledoux, like many others at the rally, said tax cuts should have been the main instrument employed by the Obama administration to stimulate the economy. While acknowledging that the stimulus bill has already been signed into law, some said they hoped Congress would push for changes in the legislation.
Several people said a host of elected officials, Republicans and Democrats, have betrayed their constituents by supporting part or all of Obama's stimulus proposals.
"I think we should throw everyone out of there who is for all this government spending," said Benbrook resident Robert Paul, son of Texas congressman and former presidential candidate Ron Paul.
Most at the rally carried signs targeting Obama's fiscal policy, such as "Hope + Change = Fear + Debt" and "Taxpayers revolt against Gimme-mania." Some were more targeted in their anger, with slogans like "Obama is a damn liar" and "Obama 'bin Lyin'."
Klick estimated she had collected more than 800 signatures from people opposed to irresponsible government spending and bailouts. The petitions would be sent to state and federal elected officials, she said.
Attendees said they were encouraged by the turnout and predicted this was just the first step of a movement to vigorously oppose Obama's policies.
"We can't allow this assault on the principles that make America great to succeed," former Arlington State Rep. Bill Zedler said.

[color=blue]Here is a follow-up (day-after) email regarding yesterdays Chicago Tea Party. Also below that is todays
DontGo Movement home page at their website (and the link)
Also Folks, I’d like to point out that is just a matter of time before the DontGo Movement and the efforts of groups
like ALIPAC cross paths and become one. The more that we highlight the facts that Illegal Aliens are among the
benefactors of our tax dollars, the more it upsets the US Taxpayers, and the more we will merge.
Yesterday as we marched I pointed out some facts on the subject, and as you would expect, it angered them even more.
Also, most were under the false idea that “They went back home because there are no jobs hereâ€<div>“There is no longer any Left or Right, there is only Tyranny or Liberty ”</div>

It's absolultely astounding that Obama has been in office only a month, and already people are marching in the street.

Below is a link to an article that talks about how our two major Newspapers failed to give the Chicago Tea Party even the smallest of mention in there papers. But due to copyright issues I can only post the heading and one line from the body of the article. But I did include the link where you can read the complete article without violating copyrights.

As to why we didn’t get any press I will go as far as saying Mayor Daley, on behalf of Obama ordered the papers not to print anything. (If not Obama’s team’s directly). After all that’s how things work here in this Democrat Chicago Machine. And please people don’t tell me I am over reacting, for I have seen the screening power of City Hall on the press many of times over the years, and this is by no means the first. I thinking this was done it’s because this is Obama’s hometown, and how would that look? (Daley won’t want to embarrass Obama)
Now that I am thinking about it, this City Hall harassment actually started as we waited for the Tea Party to start and as the crowd was growing. The crowd was grouping in the Daley Plaza itself, and about 10 minutes before the advertised start of the Tea Party, building security came and said we must move out of the plaza and on to sidewalk. I’m guessing Mayor Daley looked out his window and ordered that, for the dozen of Chicago Police officers assigned to escort our march didn’t say a thing, and just stood off to the side waiting to go into action when we start to march. Actually they looked like they didn’t know what was happening either.
How is that for freedom, the public being kicked out of the public square? (And they want the farness doctrine back?

this morning when I looked in the SunTimes and Tribune, I expected at least a rudimentary nod to the protest. Seeing nothing<div>“There is no longer any Left or Right, there is only Tyranny or Liberty ”</div>
