PICS: MEX Navy intercepts drug submarine.
Besides protecting our land borders, we also need to protect our sea borders too. A 30 foot submarine can easily smuggle a suitcase nuclear bomb.

Oaxaca (Mexico), July 16 (EFE).-
The small submarine of ten meters of length and loaded with drugs was intercepted by the Mexican Navy in the coast of Oaxaca the past Wednesday.
The Headquarters of Port of Santa Cruz Huatulco indicated that upon detecting the submarine, which was in Mexican waters without the corresponding permission, military agents and of the Navy boarded the submarine and detained four people, all of Colombian nationality.
The detained men are José Félix Cuero EnrÃ*quez, 58, Rodrigo Olaya Cuero, 59, Rafael Jiménez Biojo, 27, and Fabio Pineda Payán, 48. The four are native of the Colombian port of Buenaventura, in the Pacific.
José Félix spoke with the press and said he did not know who the submarine belong to, after assuring that when they boarded the submarine "the motor was running and the sub was sealed completely."
"We were abducted, they carried us to a hill, they took us to that apparatus and they forced us to arrive to where the apparatus was and told us that it functioned with satelite help", said Jiménez Biojo.
Captain José Luis Vergara, spokesman of the SEMAR, declared to the press that the submarine was sighted in Mexican waters while it sailed towards the north and was spotted by a helicopter.
When the ship left afloat, sailor of the Navy descended with ropes from the helicopter to capture its crew members, related Vergara, who indicated that he still does not know the quantity of drugs in the sub, which apparently is cocaine".
"We were abducted in Colombia, if we didn't bring that apparatus they would kill us and our family", he added.
The four men arrested, according to the source, were transferred to the installations of the SEMAR in the Port of Huatulco and taken before a Public Department.
In April, sources of the American State Department notified that the Colombian Cartel of the Northern Valley employs small submarines to carry cocaine to Mexico and later to the United States.
The submarines emerge when they are various kilometers from the Mexican coast, where they are contacted by speedboats that later carry the drugs to the interior of the country, to transfer it then to the United States.
The detained men are José Félix Cuero EnrÃ*quez, 58, Rodrigo Olaya Cuero, 59, Rafael Jiménez Biojo, 27, and Fabio Pineda Payán, 48.

Mexico seizes drug submarine in Pacific
HUATULCO, Mexico (AP) — Mexico's navy seized a homemade submarine carrying a drug shipment off the Pacific coast on Wednesday and arrested its four-man crew.
Similar vessels carrying cocaine have been discovered off Colombia and Central America, but navy spokesman Capt. Benjamin Mar said the seizure is a first for Mexico.
The 30-foot (10-meter) makeshift submarine was detected heading north about 200 miles (322 kilometers) off the southern state of Oaxaca, Mar said.
Green-topped and shaped like an arrowhead, the vessel was intercepted when it surfaced hours later. The crew was taken into custody without resistance.
The suspects were flown by helicopter to the city of Huatulco, where they told AP Television News they left the Colombian coastal town of Buenaventura a week ago. They said drug traffickers forced them to make the journey by threatening to harm their families.
The navy said in a statement that the sub was apparently packed with cocaine, but authorities were still determining how much was on board.
Colombia's drug cartels have been known to use home-built submarines to smuggle large amounts of cocaine past U.S. and Colombian patrol boats to Central America en route to the United States.
Colombian authorities have discovered at least nine such vessels over the past three years. Last August, U.S. forces intercepted a submarine-like vessel carrying tons of cocaine off the coast of Guatemala.

LawEnforcer, We have a week long festival in June called The Rose Festival. On the Willamette River (it cuts Portland in half and is a major shipping lane into Portlands ports, of course they first come via the Columbia River from the Pacific), they have U.S. and Canadian Navy ships come in and dock right along the sea wall in downtown Portland.
This one year, there was this small one, smaller than a frigate, and it had the Mexican flag flying. In my surprise, I said to my husband, pretty much this very thing. He laughed, and so did many U.S. and Canadian sailors nearby. I am sure the Mexican sailors would not have thought I was all too funny though!!
I am truly shocked, knowing what I now know (versus that some 8 years ago) that Mexico has anything of an organized military. Then again, we all know that the majority, it would appear, are corrupted, so what difference does it make between them and the cartels thugs?“In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned.
