    Glad you shared the facts. I was also under the impression that NYC was a sanctuary city. The news clips of Bloomberg praising immigrants(illegals) as a necessity in NYC, gave me that impression as well.

    I'm glad to here he's aligning with the federal laws.

    There are less blind eyes in NYC! Good to here!

    Well, he's not really in compliance with federal law.

    The original executive order he issued was going to revoke the EO issued by Koch-and observed till that point-which gave illegal aliens a shield against referral to the INS-now BCIE.

    The City Council was about to enact an unconstitutional measure that would have reinstated the EO that a jurist had already declared illegal, so Bloomberg issued a directive that left much, if not all, of the original (illegal) EO in place.

    Illegal aliens are still welcome here, unfortunately.

    However, the idea of NYC being a "sanctuary city," i.e. having laws on the books that prevent local law enforcement from detaining illegal aliens and handing them over to federal law enforcement, customs and immigration officials is incorrect.
