If you have some time, check out the video Hacking Democracy.

THIS VIDEO IS VERY DISTURBING!!!! It documents the secrecy, known security flaws and lack of integrity in our electronic voting system and our re-count system in our 2000 and 2004 Presidential Elections.

During an experiment conducted in video 9, a computer expert manages to pre-hack the Diebold memory card and change the vote results without those changes being detected on the Diebold machine or the GEMS vote counting program.

Just elimante the problem machines by voting absentee ballot. It's easy, it's in writing and it's traceable. Call your County Clerk, they will mail it to you.

Sounds like a good idea....Think they'll mind mailing 150,000,000 or so ballots? Hey, wait! Didn't they wind up voting on paper towels and napkins the other day in the primary???

    The SOLUTION is simple...
After VOTING on an electronic Machine...DEMAND a receipt of your vote.
It is THAT SIMPLE. Your bank ATM issues one, WHY NOT A VOTING MACHINE?

The fly in the ointment there is:
    1) You already voted, so who cares about your demands..
    2) What good is one ballot receipt in the hands of one voter? Even if everyone got a receipt for their vote, how many would actually keep it, or for that matter bring it forward for a recount?
Nope, we need to go back to paper ballots, PERIOD!

Apathy, I do not know if you are familiar with cash registers. But the printout on the Register tape is DUPLICATE. One for you, One for the Customer.
For the Voting Machines,do it the same way?(for recount purposes)

Sounds great PoP, but we don't have those machines available and you simply can't make and distribute them in time for 08 elections...So what can be done other than let them steal another election from the people?
