correct if i am wrong. but as i understand the system, social security isn't like an 401k. if a person starts working at the age of 16 and another at the age of 26, and they both end making the same for the last few years at the age of 70, they both get the same check as long as they live. right? if not like if one lives until the age of 90 they will stop getting checks at the age of 85 or something. right?

Why should we give them social security, are they nuts? It is bad enough that I have been working all my life and paying into it that there will not be any money left when I retire and they want to give it to them. No way!!!!

mr/ms. smith. is not like you will get back exactly what you put in. so you have illegals who have put in for the 12 years, but must put in for another 10. at the end of the day, it will be the next ten years that will really determine what they will get for retirement.

i have been putting into the system for the last 4-6 years with an itin. if all goes well (sending in i-485 very soon), next year i will put in with a social. i am in my late 20's/early 30's and have like 35-45 more years for retirement. so if they don't give me any credit for the years i have done with an itin, is no big deal. the only way it really would matter is if when i am 50 i get into an accident and i need to be disability and those 4-6 years woudl be the difference.

my mother worked for over ten years off the books. did two years with itin (which we haven't been able to find and get credit for) and then became legal. right now she is citizen and in the mid-60's. in order to get disability or retirement one must have a certain number of credits (usually is 4 per year and one needs 40 for retirement). my mother has like 37/38 (so those itin credits would greatly help). because of that i have to be the main bread winner since she can barely work due to her breaking body.

the only reason i would be in favor in giving the social security credit for illegals is to prevent future cases like my mother. outside of that, i could care less. what is it, like 7 billion that is just seating there gaining interest? they can keep that and use it for other things. use that money to save hospitals and jails. build schools with that money. go buy safer helmets for those in harm's way.

and i am not buying that illegals will safe social security. they won't in the long-term. the only way they could is if they get skills and don't just work in low-paying/low-skilled jobs. my mother probably takes out more than she puts in. that is why i need to make up for it.

Mr. Inquisitor I do not care how long or what you have paid into the social security system. I have paid in all my life and now we have illegal aliens and others here in our country collecting SSI when they have paid in little or nothing and our government is going to tell me and other baby boomers when we retire that there is no money. I think not Many of the illegal aliens in this country now using other american citizens social security numbers should get nothing. They committed fraud even if they did pay what little taxes their low paying jobs have taken out. All american citizens who have paid social security taxes while working do deserve social security benefits when they retire, all others do not.
