Minuteman leader likes Hunter, Tancredo, Paul -- uneasy about Thompson

A secure borders activist has joined the growing chorus of conservatives who are not prepared to jump on the Fred Thompson bandwagon, if and when the former senator enters the presidential race.

Chris Simcox, honorary chairman of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps Political Action Committee, has been busy stumping for selected candidates who he believes are trying to make a difference on the issue of illegal immigration. In that regard, Simcox shares that right now, he is comfortable with only three presidential hopefuls.

"There are three very principled, dedicated leaders, at least on the GOP side," he says in reference to the cadre of presidential candidates. "That would Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo, and Ron Paul." All three currently serve in the U.S. House -- two representing the border states of California (Hunter) and Texas (Paul).

"The rest of them [the candidates], I don't trust," Simcox continues. "They continue to change their message to meet the needs of the polls -- and I appreciate again the principled leadership of Hunter, Tancredo, and Paul."

And what about the as-yet-unannounced candidacy of former Tennessee Senator Fred Thompson? Simcox says he is not ready to jump on that bandwagon just yet. "Not at this point," the activist says. "Mr. Thompson has not come out and laid out a platform that we are comfortable with."

Simcox adds that he is uneasy with Thompson's membership with the Council on Foreign Relations. One conservative journalist, Jerome Corsi, has also alluded to the former senator's affiliation with that group, describing Thompson as a globalist who would push for open borders.

Watch FRED go with the polls. He is absolutely for "bringing these folks out of the shadows!!!!" And if he says anything different now, he is a liar.

He voted yes on every immigration bill he saw when in the U. S. Congress. And, he is a CFR member.

I agree..... That is why he is announcing the day after the next Republican debate. He wants no part of being on that stage, getting zinged with questions about his voting record. He is a liar, much like the majority of candidates in the field now.

We all must work hard to get Paul, Hunter or Tancredo some exposure. I guess all of you have noticed that all the major networks have completely blacklisted those three candidates and refuse to provide them with any news coverage. Although Paul has won a number of straw polls, the tv media refuses to mention his name.
