ORANGE COUNTY REGISTER IMMIGRATION POLL FOR 2008 : CLOSED

Immigration, the war, the economy, health care.... all are major topics on the platforms for candidates gearing up for the 2008 presidential election. How important does immigration rank on your list?

My top issue. I won't vote for a candidate who doesn't agree with me on immigration.
    80%

One of my top issues and a factor in my vote -- but not the only one.
    15%

I pay attention to the candidates' positions but it's a minor issue in my book. My vote doesn't hinge on it.
    5%

It's irrelevant. I'm focusing on other priorities.

The problem is, the poll doesn't state which side you would "agree" with!

It doesn't matter as that is not the question they are asking.

If you look at the other polls they have, you can definently tell whhich way they lean towards.

Poll: immigration ranks high among campaign issues for ‘08?
    August 31st, 2007
    The results are in!

It turns out the vast majority of our poll respondents this week said immigration is an issue of primordial importance in the 2008 presidential election.

    Of 259 votes,

79% ranked immigration as the top priority
15% said it was an important issue but not the only one
1% said their vote didn’t hinge on a candidate’s position on immigration
3% said the issue was completely irrelevant

Now, we recognize the result is not all that surprising considering we’re polling on an immigration news web site! But we wanted to put the question out there to start thinking about election priorities to see how immigration fares in the campaign moving forward.
