Santa Cruz:flag burning for free speech/freedom of expressio

In the name of free speech and freedom of expression, local residents held a flag burning before 4th of July. Did they make their point?

Yes, freedom of expression is under constant threat, they bring attention to the issue and generate important discussion
    87 Votes, or 32.83 %
No, the flag is a symbol of freedom, burning it sends the wrong message, is offensive, and likely to lead to unproductive backlash

Now why would they do that! That's against the law and they'd be facing jail time...

For those who don't know (and why would you) Santa Cruz Calfiornia is home to University of California, Santa Cruz. One of the flakiest colleges in the U.S.

We have no football team, although we do have a rugby team. The schools mascot is the Bananna Slug, an ugly yellow guy who lives in the redwoods.

We have treesitters that protest whatever the current issues may be, primarily environmental.

Santa Cruz itself is a sanctuary city and a nuclear free zone, things our wacky city council declared. They make declarations all the time which explains why our city is broke, now has drive-by shootings, you can see families at our beach Boardwalk where Mom and the kids wait while Dad sells crack. Nothing hidden, right out there in front of you.

We have a huge homeless population because our city council votes to fund so many freebies for them.

So, don't wonder why some group got together to burn our flag. That's the way things are here in Santa Cruz.
