Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) is on board the Obama administrations recently unveiled policy regarding killing American citizens via uncontested drone strikes. Graham was asked by reporters on Wednesday if he was comfortable with Obama’s drone strike rationale and Graham went to bat for his President in large fashion:

”Yes, I’m totally supportive of the administration’s rationale on drone strikes.” It’s a “logical use of how you deal with an enemy combatant,” according to Graham. ”The law of war applies. The attack of 9/11 was an act of war not a common crime. Anwar Al-awlaki chose to side with the enemy. He was deeply involved in al Qaida operations. My criticism of the administration is we don’t have a jail to put somebody in if you capture them to interrogate them. We’ve had one capture in four years. We’re losing valuable intelligence becasuse we won’t use Gitmo. So I’d give you [Obama] an F in detention policy but I’ve give you [Obama] an A in the drone program. The idea of stopping a strike against an al Qaeda operative like Anwar Al-awlaki because he happens to be an American citizen runs counter to the law of war and turning this decision over to unelected judges is crazy. You don’t let unelected judges decide who to target in the time of war, and you can’t have 535 commander-in-chiefs. I think the president’s on solid legal ground. I think he’s doing the right thing. I applaud his administration.”

“When Jay Carney says it was ‘legal, ethical, and wise’ he was right in my opinion. Every member of Congress needs to get on board. It’s not fair to the president to let him, leave him out there alone quite frankly. He’s getting hit from libertarians and the left,” Graham concluded.

Perhaps someone should inform “Lintseed” that his Presidents Department of Homeland Security as well as the Combating Terrorism Center of West Point Military Academy has stated very clearly that anyone who opposes the policies of Barack Obama are “violent right-wing radical terrorists.” Not my words folks … theirs. The Senator from South Carolina is getting the United States’ “war on terror” confused with Barack Obama’s “war on opposition,” and it’s a grave mistake. This policy which Graham is embracing would allow the killings of not just crazed jihadists in distant lands but also those here in America who “cling to guns and bibles” and subsequently refute the current administration.

This policy reserves the right for high ranking members of Obama’s administration, such as AG Eric Holder and/or Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano – and other “informed, high-level” officials within the U.S. government, to be judge, jury and executioner of anyone they deem “a threat,” abroad, here at home – or on mars.

As the aforementioned reports from DHS and Westpoint indicate – that’s too broad of a demography of people and to suggest a select few elitist criminals in Washington should have the right to do legal drive-bys on we the People is absurdity to a degree which I’ve yet to encounter in 25 years of political study. This policy makes G.W. Bush’s wiretapping scheme seem so tiny in comparison it’s laughable. Bush had no right to eavesdrop, but Obama reserves the right to kill American “threats.”
In light of yesterday’s yielding of President Obama to a congressional review of his drone policy, I sincerely urge every single member of congress to at least muster up enough spine to insist that Obama’s drone policy be reworded to include “shall not occur on American soil.” If a republican majority congress allows this policy to stand uncontested without so much as a redaction or amendment – any consequential American blood spilled will be dripping from their chins.

According a document obtained and reported on by NBC News, American citizens can be targeted and killed by the U.S. government if the person is believed “to be a ‘senior operational leader’ of al-Qaida or ‘an associated force’” even in the absence of evidence that they are engaged in a plot to commit an act of terrorism on U.S. soil.
