11 Major Companies Censoring “Christmas” That You Definitely Don’t Want To Shop At
11 Major Companies Censoring “Christmas” That You Definitely Don’t Want To Shop At
David Rufful
The American Family Association (AFA) released its annual “Naughty-or-Nice Retailer List,” which tells consumers how companies plan to market their products.
11 major companies made the “naughty” list, which means products can be marketed by using the term “Christmas” sparingly in a single or unique product description, but as a company, does not recognize it.
If a company has items associated with Christmas, but did not use the word “Christmas,” then AFA considers the company as censoring “Christmas.” The list does not local or regional companies, but only nationally-recognized companies. This list also only reflects a company’s “Christmas” advertising and does not take into account other corporate policies AFA may not agree with.
1. Barnes & Noble
2. Victoria’s Secret
3. Staples
4. Foot Locker
5. Pet Smart
6. Family Dollar
7. Office Depot
8. Office Max
9. Supervalu
10. Maurice’s
11. Limited Brands
Honorable Mention:
The following 14 stores also aren’t considered “Christmas-friendly” by AFA because they refer to Christmas infrequently, or in a single advertising medium, but not in others:
1. Best Buy
2. Starbucks
3. CVS Pharmacy
4. Walgreens
5. Whole Foods
6. Bath & Body Works
7. Radio Shack
8. True Vallue
9. Academy Sports + Outdoors
10. 1-800-Flowers.com
11. Cooking.com
12. Safeway
13. UncommonGoods.com
14. Fred’s
Here are nationally-recognized stores that made AFA’s “Nice” list, meaning they promote and celebrate Christmas on an exceptional basis:
