    City shootings leave three men dead and at least 15 people hurt


    Three men died and at least 15 people, including six teenagers, were wounded in shootings across the city from Saturday afternoon into early Sunday morning.

    In the latest fatal shooting, a 27-year-old man died after being shot around 3:15 a.m. Sunday in the Old Town neighborhood on the Near North Side, said Chicago Police Department news affairs Officer Hector Alfaro.


    The man was found inside a vehicle in the 400 block of West Evergreen Avenue with multiple gunshot wounds, Alfaro said. The car he was in crashed into several parked cars before coming to a stop.


    He was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, Alfaro said.


    A vehicle was seen leaving the scene, Alfaro said. Shortly after the incident, police stopped a suspect on the Eisenhower Expressway and took him into custody, police said.

    Around the same time, a 24-year-old man died and two other men were in critical condition after being shot at a party around 3:10 a.m. Sunday in the Tri-Taylor neighborhood on the West Side, said news affairs Officer Ana Pacheco. The three were at a party in a basement apartment in the 800 block of South Oakley Boulevard when someone fired shots, Pacheco said.
    The 24-year-old was shot in the face and was later pronounced dead at John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, Pacheco said. A 33-year-old man was hit in the chest and the back and was listed in critical condition at Stroger, Pacheco said. A 26-year-old man was shot in the torso and the back and was also in critical condition at Stroger.
    No one is in custody as a result of the shooting, Pacheco said.
    The third fatal shooting happened at 2:13 p.m. Saturday in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, said news affairs Officer Veejay Zala.

    A 22-year-old man was driving in the 700 block of North Hamlin Avenue when another vehicle pulled up to his car and someone began shooting, Zala said. The victim lost control of his car and struck several parked cars, police said.
    The man, identified as Anthony Jackson of the 3800 block of West Lexington Street according to the Cook County medical examiner's office, was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, Zala said. He was a documented gang member, police said. Police are conducting a homicide investigation.
    In the latest shooting, a 23-year-old man was wounded around 4:30 a.m. Sunday in the Grand Crossing neighborhood on the South Side, Pacheco said.
    The man was having an argument with another man in the 7400 block of South Greenwood Avenue, Pacheco said. When the 23-year-old went outside, the offender shot the man in his left calf and fled, Pacheco said. The wounded man transported himself to University of Chicago Medical Center, where he was listed in good condition, Pacheco said. No one is in custody.

    A 20-year-old man and a 17-year-old boy were wounded in a shooting around 4:25 a.m. in the Back of the Yards neighborhood on the South Side, Pacheco said. The two were driving in the 1700 block of West 47th Street when another car pulled up and someone fired shots, Pacheco said.
    The 17-year-old was shot in the head, and the 20-year-old suffered a graze wound to the left side of his body, Pacheco said. The two transported themselves to Stroger hospital, where the 17-year-old was listed in critical condition. The 20-year-old's condition was stabilized, Pacheco said. No one is in custody, Pacheco said.
    A 24-year-old man was wounded in a shooting around 2:30 a.m. in the West Elsdon neighborhood on the Southwest Side, Pacheco said. The man was in a parked car in the 3600 block of West 56th Street when a male shot from across the street, Pacheco said. The victim suffered a graze wound to the side of his body and refused medical attention, Pacheco said. No one is in custody.

    An 18-year-old woman was wounded in a shooting around 2:15 a.m. Sunday in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, Alfaro said. The woman was a sidewalk in the 7600 block of South Dobson Avenue when an attacker fired shots, Alfaro said. The woman was shot in the right shoulder and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where her condition was stabilized.
    A 24-year-old man was wounded around 12:20 a.m. Sunday in the Gresham neighborhood on the South Side, Alfaro said. The man was in a parked van in the 7600 block of South Union Avenue when he got into an altercation with another man who fired shots, Alfaro said. The victim was shot in the left leg and was taken to Saint Bernard Hospital and Health Care Center, where his condition stabilized, Alfaro said. No one is in custody.

    A 21-year-old man was shot while allegedly attempting buy drugs around 12:10 a.m. in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, Alfaro said. The man was waiting in his car near the intersection of West 59th Street and South Lafayette Avenue when two males then hit the victim in his face and stole his cellphone.
    As the victim tried to drive away, the two attackers fired shots, striking him in the leg, Alfaro said. The man then drove to the 5500 block of South Martin Luther King Drive where he called for help. He was taken to Stroger hospital, where his condition stabilized, Alfaro said.
    An 18-year-old man drove himself to Mount Sinai Hospital after being shot around 11:50 p.m. Saturday in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side, Alfaro said. He told police he was in the driver's seat of a car in the 3900 block of West Armitage Avenue when a male shot from the sidewalk, Alfaro said. The victim was hit in the right hand, and his condition was stabilized at the hospital, Alfaro said.
    A 17-year-old woman was shot around 10:45 p.m. in the Grand Crossing neighborhood, Alfaro said. The woman was hit in the right calf in the 7300 block of South Stony Island Avenue while she was standing on a sidewalk, Alfaro said. She was taken to Jackson Park Hospital and Medical Center, where her condition stabilized.
    A 14-year-old boy was in critical condition and a 16-year-old boy was wounded after they were shot around 9:55 p.m. in the West Englewood neighborhood on the South Side, Alfaro said. Both were standing on the sidewalk in the 5700 block of South Marshfield Avenue when a male fired shots, Alfaro said.
    The 16-year-old suffered gunshot wounds to the neck, left arm and buttocks and was taken to Christ Medical Center, where his condition stabilized, Alfaro said. The 14-year-old was hit in the right armpit and back and was transported to University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, Alfaro said.
    No one is in custody.
    Earlier Saturday, a 33-year-old woman was shot in the head at 6:48 p.m. while in her vehicle on the 3700 block of West Potomac Avenue in the Humboldt Park neighborhood on the West Side, police said. The woman was taken to Stroger hospital in critical condition, police said. Police originally said that the woman had died. Detectives are investigating.

    A 44-year old man walked into Holy Cross Hospital and said he had been shot in the upper left arm while standing on the corner of the 6600 block of South Marshfield Avenue in West Englewood, police said. The shooting happened at 5:58 p.m., and the man was in good condition, police said.
