6 shot to death in Chicago, at least 30 wounded over weekend

June 18, 2012 (CHICAGO) (WLS) -- Chicago police officers worked overtime to decrease violence this past weekend. There were six shooting deaths in the city and more than 30 others were hurt.

The youngest victim was 16-year old-Shakaki Asphy.
Asphy was mourned by family and friends in front of the vacant Englewood home where she was gunned down Saturday night. She was sitting on the porch with Dellaresse Cunningham's son, who was also shot.

"A guy came through the gangway, he had on a grey hoodie," said Cunningham. "He pointed a gun and the guy just starting shooting three times."

"She was a smart beautiful girl," said Shakaki's father Takaki Asphy "I just want whoever did this to come forward and accept what they've done.

The same plea is being made by the family of 25-year-old Tiffany Edwards. She was killed early Sunday morning while sitting in the passenger side of a van at the corner of 76th and State. Someone pulled up and opened fire.

The families of both victims say Asphy and Edwards were not the intended targets.
