(CNSNews.com) – Acting Federal Communications Commission Chairman Michael Copps says he doesn’t support bringing back the controversial Fairness Doctrine, but he does think government has a role in enforcing media “diversity.â€Join our efforts to Secure America's Borders and End Illegal Immigration by Joining ALIPAC's E-Mail Alerts network (CLICK HERE)

"Fairness doctrine" "localism" "diversity" -- whatever the liberals want to call it -- this would all be a blatant attempt to stifle conservative talk radio, an incredible liberal power grab and assault on free speech. One would hope the Democrats would not be this stupid -- but you never know.

What confuses me when I first heard of the fairness doctrine is that the no one is stopping the liberals from having air time. They have had their attempts at having air time but it seems that they can not keep an captive audience as conserative talk radio. So why should conserative talk radio be hindered cause the liberals can not get enough sponsers due to the fact that they can not keep a huge audience. So because of their failure we have to have our time limited?

It's not all about the "fairness doctrine" in the least.
What you just read from the fcc's commish is that he wants to
make sure that every station broadcasts in "cultural diversity".
That means, if your 'hood is made up of anyone originating
from outside the US, local stations will be mandated to play
a certain amount of music & news from that country to suit that 'hood.
If you're used to listening to a particular station for it's country
western, smooth jazz, hip-hop, r&b & any of the known &
accepted music styles we share now.....hold on...it's going
to be interspersed with unmelodius sitars & screaching
voices as well as large helpings of Latino rap crap.
Once all that starts, you'll be hard pressed to get anything of
local value to you short of advertisements in some non-english
language directing you to buy at Habib's.
It doesn't end there.
Wait till you try to find a voice of reason like Hannety or Lindbaugh.
Forget it because when that "new improved culturally diverse"
market gains support & listenership, the advertisers will dictate
what gets played on that station thru blackmailing practices.
If anybody makes any kind of remark that even remotely
offends some foreignors delicate sensibilities, that program
will be gone faster than your wallet after a one night stand.
When the givernment says anything about "cultural diversity"
you can pretty well assume that they mean giving up what
you knew & replacing it with "something else" of no real value
to you.
I'm not against anyone listening to their music preference but
don't cheat me out of mine just because it's the politically correct
thing to do.
Awww hell, don't listen to me rattling on.
I'm just a damned ol fart that doesn't react well to changes
that diminish my country's heritage & culture in favor of
some looser culture that should have stayed where it was
instead of turning mine into what they so willingly abandoned.
There's days that my givernment just makes me feel like
driving my truck into a bridge.

Interestingly, I do not believe any of this applies to satellite radio. So maybe we will all have to switch to Sirius XM or whatever it is. If Rush, Hannity, Savage etc can bring along all of their commercials, heck, we might even get multi-tier satellite radio similar to Cable and Satellite TV, where we could get the basic stuff real cheap vs the current (I think) $10 a month. Could also be on Cable and Satellite TV. I currently get a bunch of music channels on DirectTV, and they are actually from Sirius XM."We have met the enemy, and they is us." - POGO

This radio station similar to cabel that you are talking about is that a special radio? Do you sign up to listen using a particular radio? I have cabel and I have to pay for each of the 3 TV's I use. If I bring in a 4th tv it is not automatically hooked up to cabel. I would have to have someone come and hook it up and pay for it. So if I was to listen to one of these talk show host who is on one of those stations would I have to pay a fee for each radio. I listen to them on 3 radios in my home and one in the car. How would it work?

This is infuriating. While I listen to most of my favorite talk show hosts on the net (Im listening to Mark Levin right now) it will be a really sad sad day to silence them on the air waves. This is obviously the destruction of free speech. They will probably find a way to call it "hate speech" since it's not liberal.

I have heard Sean Hannity often make reference to Mark Levin yet never heard him speak. Does he have a web site in which I can listen to him by pod cast? I recently learned of Glenn Beck. He seems to be very conserative and has a sense of humor. He is on Fox news in the after noon. Like Hannity I think he may too have his own talk show. Not sure but it seems like he has made reference to. It would be devestating if these men would no longer be able to speak in the air waves. What is so inconsistant is those who are in porno think they can promote their agenda over the rulings of "free speach" but we may soon lose one of the venues in which conseratives use to communicate their ideas through free speach. If this fairness doctrine comes up or something similiar that will have the same effect we need to band together and stope it.

I decided to do a search myself on Mark Levin. I found this web site:
http://marklevinfan.com/
I was able to activate a portion of his talk show in which he gave his idea of what he would do for a stimulus plan. He reminds me a little of Hannity, Savage and Beck. He has a sense of humor as well. Thanks for mentioning him as I will try to find out if he is on in our area. Basically I listen to only one radio station, a KFYI station which he is not on.
