CAPITOLA, Calif--

About a dozen SmartMeter opponents lined up to return the controversial device, Wednesday, and when they showed up, PG&E called police.

"This is not a protest," said Joshua Hart, Stopsmartmeter.org. "This was simply returning PG&E's property to them. Property that was not wanted on people's homes."

And about a dozen people did just that at PG&E's pay center at the Capitola Mall. Joshua Hart, who is leading the push against SmartMeters said the digital meters made these people sick and were put on their property illegally, so they took them off.

"When PG&E refused to remove these devices which they never had permission to install in the first place, these people have taken matters into their own hands, hired a professional electrician or contractor to replace the SmartMeter with an analog meter," said Hart.

Bianca Carn was one of PG&E's customers who returned a SmartMeter, Wednesday.

"The bottom line is, they can't come on private property," said Carn. "I own the house, I didn't give them permission and they didn't send me a certified letter, and as you can see, we've been kicked off private property. We're not even allowed to go in there. They wanted us to come out so we did and I just feel like I wish we had the same rights."

When this group went inside to return their SmartMeters, the Capitola Police Department showed up and ordered everyone out. PG&E even closed up shop.

"I think it's disturbing that simply utility customers looking out for the health and safety of their families have to be intimidated in such a way with this turnout of police when people were happy to comply with the request to leave the offices," said Hart.

PG&E released the following statement:

"As a matter of personal and public safety, our customers must never tamper with utility equipment. We urge our customers to call us at 1-800-743-5000 if they have questions about their gas and electric service.

We want to prevent our customers from facing the risks associated with SmartMeter removal which could result in serious harm.

Fires, burns and electrocution could occur from attempting to remove a SmartMeter.

In any instance where PG&E equipment has been tampered with or removed PG&E is obligated to end service until the situation is made safe and proper equipment is installed by a PG&E representative."

Customer revolt is happening more and more as utilities attempt to force smart meters on customers. Smart meters invade personal privacy (4th amendment). They are a threat to security, they bring higher rates and possible health dangers.

Big brother wants more control and to ration use of electricity, water, and gas. United Nations Agenda 21, smart growth, sustainable development, ICLEI, technocracy - sneaking in to communities.

Smart meters allow for continual monitoring and surveillance 24/7. Lawsuits are developing.

We will see. Utilities will be facing the prospect of turning off power to large numbers of people. As people learn about the real and possible dangers from smart meters, and their potential capabilities, many do not want them.

When you discover that no testing on smart meters "deployed" in this manner, tens of thousands, has ever been done, and when you read that radio frequency for wireless smart meters may affect reproductive organs, children, fetuses, those with pacemakers, those with other health problems, and that they may lead to cancer risks, why have the thing in the first place.

Cyber security risks that could be terrorists or others who have hacked into the grid. One smart meter on any home or business can be the entry point for malicious intent.

Smart meters can cause interference with many things including Wi-FI, Netflix, household electronics, computers, appliances, etc. The utilities will assume zero responsibility.

The government can turn the power off to your home by just sending a signal using the power lines. The government can also listen in to any conversation taking place inside your home using the speekers in your stereo, TV, telephone or any other electronic device that has speekers if it is plugged in.

Like I said before I tried to stop it on my house but they said I can postpone it not stop it..So it is now on my house and the other day they changed all the main power boxes in our neighborhood and replaced them with smaller ones. People are at neighborhood meetings down at the City Hall and etc but they seem to be getting no where fast other than make a few Nevada Energy people annoyed. I have been telling people about this smart meter thing in my area a long time ago but I was ignored until now...

NaturalNews) There is a sinister agenda underway to forcibly convert every standard electric meter in the U.S. to the "smart" variety under the guise of promoting renewable energy interests. And one of the latest pieces of Trojan horse legislation pushing for this ominous transformation is the Smart Grid Advancement Act of 2013, introduced by Representative Jerry McNerney (D-Cal.) and co-authored by Rep. Matt Cartwright (D-Penn.), which would force utilities all across the country to convert their customers to smart meters.

The new bill, as stated in a recent press release posted on Rep. McNerney's website, would require virtually all energy utility companies nationwide to implement so-called "smart grid technologies," which in turn would require the installation of smart meters on customers' homes and businesses. Smart meters, as you may already be aware, contain wireless communication components that are not only a serious threat to human health, but also a monumental detriment to personal privacy.

But crafty politicians like Rep. McNerney and Rep. Cartwright are couching the technology as a viable way to help save people money by lowering their electricity bills. This explanation, of course, is meant to divert attention away from the not-so-enticing fact that the technology is really nothing more than a massive, interconnected government spying and control apparatus.

"[The bill] would apparently require all electricity providers, including rural cooperatives and municipal utilities, to join the 'smart' grid and install 'smart' meters," explains the energy freedom advocacy group StopSmartMeters.org.

What else does this inauspicious bill aim to accomplish? According to a summary of the bill, posted as H.R. 2685 at GovTrack.us -- you need to read between the lines to really understand what is being stated in this summary -- certified Energy Star appliances and other energy-saving products will be required to contain wireless technologies capable of communicating with both energy providers and potentially even the government.

"[T]he bill would require appliances with the Energy Star label to include wireless transmitters that cannot be turned off, in order to communicate (and presumably cough up your private data and respond to orders from Big Brother Smart Grid to switch you off at a moment's notice, as happened to dozens of people in Northern California recently when their not-so-smart-AC program cut off their air conditioning at the height of the recent heat wave," adds StopSmartMeters.org.

"The bill would also establish a 'smart grid information center' that would presumably create pro-smart-grid propaganda at the taxpayer's expense."

Smart meters exposed as part of NSA 'PRISM' spying scam

Even worse is the fact that Landis Gyr, a major smart meter manufacturer that describes itself as a "world leader" in smart grid technology, let the cat out of the bag that the National Security Agency (NSA), which we now know actively spies on innocent Americans' phone calls and text messages, also uses smart meters to spy on Americans.

Thanks to a NaturalNews reader tip, we learned that Landis Gyr recently had a company voicemail message that admitted smart meter technology is part of the NSA's "PRISM" spying and surveillance program. Since gaining national attention about this admission, Landis Gyr has apparently altered its company voicemail message to omit this indicting information.

“Smart Grid Advancement Act” Introduced in US Congress; Take Action to Stop it Today

Two members of congress (Jerry McNerney, D- Stockton, CA and Matt Cartwright, D- PA) have introduced a congressional bill (HR 2685) that would apparently require all electricity providers (including rural cooperatives and municipal utilities) to join the ‘smart’ grid and install ‘smart’ meters.

In addition the bill would require appliances with the Energy Star label to include wireless transmitters that cannot be turned off, in order to communicate (and presumably cough up your private data and respond to orders from Big Brother Smart Grid to switch you off at a moment’s notice, as happened to dozens of people in Northern California recently when their not-so-smart-AC program cut off their air conditioning at the height of the recent heat wave.) The bill would also establish a “smart grid information center” that would presumably create pro-smart grid propaganda at the taxpayer’s expense. Sounds like the marriage between industry and government is about to be consummated- unless you take action and restrict this perverse love affair.
If you enjoy being radiated, and having your appliances speak to the utility and law enforcement, and want to force even small utilities to install smart meters on an unwilling public, just sit there and do nothing.
If you’d rather not see this bill passed, make the call today.
The bill will go first to the Energy and Commerce committee which includes Anna Eshoo (D-CA) and Henry Waxman (D-CA). What you can do:
1) Contact bill authors Jerry McNerney (209) 476-8552 and Matt Cartwright 202-225-5546 and encourage them to KILL the BILL. (what are they thinking?)
2) Contact your congressional representative, and urge them to oppose HR 2685. Find them here. Tell them why.
You can find the text of the bill here. Please spread the word to your networks, and encourage swift and widespread action to stop this bill. The smart grid is already a public health and safety disaster- let’s not make it worse.

In the meantime, do you know which appliance manufacturers hide wireless chips in their products and which do not? Why not call them up and ask them today? If you have newer appliances, they may already be ‘talking’ to your utility without your consent or knowledge. Orwellian Smart Grid Exposé to air Sept. 5

A single smart meter measuring a home’s electricity usage, by appliance, emits radiation 100 times higher than the level internationally recognized as “extreme concern” and 450 times higher than a cell phone.

These are but two of the facts presented in Josh del Sol’s long-awaited documentary, Take Back Your Power, which will air online September 5.

Foster Gamble, creator of Thrive, calls it an “astoundingly great job.” Take Back Your Power is a beautiful, tasteful, authoritative and touching account of the dire situation we face, and solutions available here and now.”

The meters can determine what appliances are being used and for how long, and can be remotely turned off, we’re warned.

This won’t be a typical how-bad-they-are film; del Sol plans to provide a number of solutions citizens can take. A group in British Columbia, for example, thwarted BC Hydro smart meters for over 200,000 citizens by using a particular legal notice.

But not all stories are of success. Earlier this year, two Illinois mothers were arrested for refusing the meters while a Gestapo team installed them city-wide. Joshua Hart reports:

These developments would be unbelievable in and of themselves as flagrant violations of constitutional property rights. The fact that the meters emit a Class 2B carcinogen, have caused at least hundreds of fires, and clearly violate privacy laws including the 4th Amendment, not to mention that these facts are all at issue in an ongoing federal lawsuit brought against the city by its own residents- makes these events all the more troubling.

George Noory interviewed Jennifer Stahl, one of the women arrested, and privacy expert, Katherine Albrecht (starts at about 7:50). Albrecht warned this is all part of the surveillance infrastructure being built across the nation.

“If we’re not careful, within 20 years,” she warned, “we’re going to be watched by our ‘smart home,’ and it’s going to be like how our cell phones, and the Internet are today, where you’re tracked everywhere, unless you opt out.”

Josh parses the Hegelian Dialect leading to more corporate control in “three easy steps”:

• Create hackable smart grid with Economic Stimulus funds. Merge internet with the power grid. Multi-pronged lobbying and PR campaign to convince people a “smart grid” is in their interest.
• Tell everyone how vulnerable everything is, including the entire smart grid you just created. Make it look like it’s not your fault. Appeal to Maslow’s bottom layer. Multi-pronged lobbying and PR campaign to convince people we need heightened security in the name of fighting terrorism.
• Time (1) and (2) so to peak when related laws are being voted upon. Multi-pronged lobbying and PR campaign…

And true to form, as Noory related, in the same week of the Naperville, IL arrests, Homeland Security released a fear-mongering statement that a cyber attack on our infrastructure was imminent. Of course it didn’t happen.
