Anyone here from California change political party affiliati

    Hello All,
I wasn't sure where to post this. I have been trying to change my party affiliation from Republican to Independent online but keep running into brick walls. I went to the California elections website but I can’t find a way to do this. I have been trying for some time now and am getting a wee bit frustrated. Has anyone out been able to do this online?
    Thanks in advance.

I'm not from CA but I am an independent. I think you need to go to your local elections board to change it.

BTW, posting here is fine. You could have also posted it under General Discussions.

In Utah you can't do it online. You have to go into the government offices. The Republican's you can thank for this one. It used to be that you could vote for who you wanted. Now they want you to have to register for what party you are voting for. This bill has got to be one that is ended.
Anyone who wants to vote independent needs to now find out where to go and change there registration before it gets to close to election time. I have no intention of voting for anyone even looking close to a Republican or Democrat in the next election.
I don't want to flush America down the toilet the next time around.
I hope that all independents make it perfectly clear on there posters that this needs to be done in order for us to vote for them.

    Hi!

I'm in Calif too and in the process of changing to indepdent!

    I called this number #916-653-6814
She gave me the number to call for my county.
I called and they told me it is quickest and most efficient to go to the local library or post office to change partys.

I asked about decline to vote/ independent and got info on that too. They told me it is basically the same thing in calif.

    Happy Re-registering!

    Just Reregistered as An Independent

Thanks for the reminder to do that. It was pretty straightforward. Bye, Republicans.

I am in California and changed over to Independent many many many years ago. I vote the person or issue...not the party, race or sex or anything else.

I have been a registered voter since I was 18. I have always been under the independent party but have always voted for the best man not party. This last congressional race, I went to vote in the Republican Party Primaries. I wanted to make sure one Republican did not make it to the general elections. They changed me to Republican or I couldn't vote. Now I have to re-register. This is in Utah.
Is this just a statewide bill or a national bill?
