What disturbs me about the proposed House bill is from the following:

SEC.441 SURCHARGE ON HIGH INCOME INDIVIDUALS

Subpart B

The proposed tax amount for SEC.59C, (a), (1) and (2) is a "progressive" tax, while (3) reverts to a "regressive" tax with a $1,000,000 income cap, similar to the FICA cap. This would result in an unfair tax liability for individuals making $1,000,000 or less, yet the ultra-rich will remain outside the tax base, therefore paying a smaller share of their income in taxes just like FICA.

SEC.59C, (b), (1) and (2) appears to create a potential incentive, i.e. "loophole", for married individuals to file separate rather than joint returns in order to avoid the higher tax rate.

Also, I think the amount of tax should be based on the total amount of income, whether single, married, or a surviving spouse.

Maybe you guys are right. There are different versions 'house' 'senate' and the bill is full of horrible things that our president is out right LYING to us. I think I will skim over this one and get ideas of what is in it and really analyze any piece of crap that could potentially pass.

These idiots make me sick to my stomach and along with that horrible gut feeling, I feel they will somehow sneak this through without the majority of America's approval.

(1) IN GENERAL- For purposes of this division, the term `affordable credit eligible individual' means, subject to subsection (b), an individual who is lawfully present in a State in the United States (other than as a nonimmigrant described in a subparagraph (excluding subparagraphs (K), (T), (U), and (V)) of section 101(a)(15) of the Immigration and Nationality Act)--
(A) who is enrolled under an Exchange-participating health benefits plan and is not enrolled under such plan as an employee (or dependent of an employee) through an employer qualified health benefits plan that meets the requirements of section 312;

(B) with family income below 400 percent of the Federal poverty level for a family of the size involved; and

(C) who is not a Medicaid eligible individual, other than an individual described in section 202(d)(3) or an individual during a transition period under section 202(d)(4)(B)(ii).

(2) TREATMENT OF FAMILY- Except as the Commissioner may otherwise provide, members of the same family who are affordable credit eligible individuals shall be treated as a single affordable credit individual eligible for the applicable credit for such a family under this subtitle.

If you check your current AP headlines, OBAMA has just backed off of the government option, and is trying to get enough support for a bipartisan bill that focuses on "co-operatives" to provide additional insurance options. we need to watch the wording on the Senate bill that is supposed to come out of the Senate finance committee in September. How safe are the co-ops from a future government takeover? Were illegal and illegal aliens specifically prohibited from receiving coverage from the co-ops? Does the bill create any sort of government panels that will dictate coverage requirements and limitations to private companies and co-ops? Are any price controls embedded in the bill? These are just some of the things to watch for. If we do not like what we see, we need to keep the pressure on, because it is obvious it has worked to some extent.
