2008 is set to be the darkest ever year in financial history according to Goldman Sachs – a new report claims.

The Times reports that the credit crunch is so serious that it may force the US banking system to cut lending by as much as $4,000 billion, prompting a “substantial recessionâ€

Goldman’s prediction comes after Wall Street firms such as Citigroup, Merrill Lynch and Morgan Stanley have collectively reported more than $50 billion in losses on investments related to sub-prime mortgages.

Hard to understand why all this sub-prime mess has not hurt Goldman Sachs stock.

These are truly precarious times for America and for all of us. Open Borders and illegal immigration only add to the threat and uncertainty of the days ahead.

Foreign currency is insulating Goldman Sachs but that will not last forever.

Folks... I am not an expert but I do follow the markets.... there are a lot of financial managers that are scared stiff on the wall that is about to hit this country... 2008 is going to be a very bad year, please try to protect yourself

What do you advise anyone to do to prepare ?

I would suggest getting currency other than the dollar as far as investing; when hyper inflation hit's because Bernanke is burning up the presses to print money.... a loaf of bread may sell for 15.00 as an example. Once the dollar falls it will almost be a worthless piece of paper.

You might want to buy non perishable foods to sustain yourself now... if you have pets that need a particular type of food (bird food, dog food etc.) I would buy in bulk YESTERDAY

I would read up on the last depression to get an idea of what people experienced... who knows how bad it will get or how long it will last

all I know is I am protecting my home because the government is not going to be able to protect me. People get desperate under these types of situations and unfortunately for us... President Bush let in Millions of strong hard working Illegal Aliens that will be very desperate to survive as well.. I think we all know how desperate people act in bad situations... this will be one for the history books

It is not spam, it is completely relevent to the topic at hand. I called another thread with it, because of the importance of it. We ARE heading for a huge recession, and it is important to call out those who have been fighting this battle for years. Nothing spam about it at all. Its called informational.
