Armed man arrested near Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s home

In my opinion. The Democrats are responsible for this and Joe Biden's vague condemnation is a weak as he is. They have sicced their dogs and this mutt traveled from California to Maryland for them. He is of legal age, but not identified. How did he transport his weapon all the way from California or did he obtain it in DC.

An armed California man incensed about the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion expected to overturn Roe v. Wade was arrested near Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s Maryland home Wednesday, officials and a report said.
The man, who was not identified, allegedly told police officers he wanted to kill Kavanaugh, the Washington Post reported.
In a statement, the Supreme Court said the man was armed and “made threats against Justice Kavanaugh.”
The suspect was taken to a local police station after he was arrested at about 1:50 a.m., the Court spokesperson said.
He was carrying an unspecified weapon and burglary tools, according to the Post.
The suspect, who appeared to be in his mid-20s, did not make it onto Kavanaugh’s property in suburban Montgomery County, but was taken into custody on a nearby street, the report said.
n a statement, White House spokesperson Andrew Bates said President Biden “condemns the actions of this individual in the strongest terms” and that he’s grateful to law enforcement for quickly apprehending the suspect.
“As the President has consistently made clear, public officials—including judges—must be able to do their jobs without concern for their personal safety or that of their families,” Bates said in the statement.
In May, Politico reported that the Supreme Court had drafted an opinion to overturn Roe v. Wade, the landmark 1973 decision that legalized abortion.
Kavanaugh, who was nominated to the high court by President Donald Trump, had joined with Justice Samuel Alito in voting to strike down Roe, according to the opinion.
The opinion could be publicly released by the end of June, when the Supreme Court’s session is scheduled to end.

Armed man arrested outside Justice Kavanaugh’s home planned to kill him, self

By Alex Swoyer and Stephen Dinan - The Washington Times - Updated: 2:39 p.m. on Wednesday, June 8, 2022

An armed man was arrested Wednesday outside the Maryland home of Supreme Court Justice Brett M. Kavanaugh after he confessed to law enforcement he planned to kill the justice and himself, according to federal court documents.

The man, identified as Nicholas John Roske, was taken to a Montgomery County Police station and is currently in federal custody, according to charging documents filed in U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. He’s set to appear before a judge at 3 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Roske, 26, of Simi Valley, California, had a gun, pepper spray and knife on him, as well as burglary tools in a backpack and suitcase, according to court documents. He also was carrying “zip ties, a hammer, screwdriver, nail punch, crow bar, pistol light, duct tape, hiking boots with padding on the outside of the soles, and other items.” He dressed in all black.

He arrived by taxi near the residence but did not breach Justice Kavanaugh’s home. Agents of the U.S. Marshals Service confronted him upon arrival.

Mr. Roske phoned the police and said he was suicidal and planned to kill a Supreme Court justice, according to the criminal complaint.

He told an agent interviewing him that he wanted to give his life a purpose and planned to kill the justice because he thought he would rule in favor of gun rights following the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas, that killed elementary students, according to the charging documents.

The agent said that, based on the evidence, Mr. Roske should be charged with attempting to murder a Supreme Court justice.

The arrest comes just days after the Southern Poverty Law Center released a study showing a distressingly high level of support for assassinating politicians whom the respondents believed were “harming the country or our democracy.”

Young Democratic men were the most agreeable to the idea, with 44% saying they could countenance such an assassination.

Mr. Roske also was targeting Justice Kavanaugh because he was angry that the court was about to overturn abortion rights, according to the charging documents.

The homes of some of the high court’s conservative justices have been targeted for protests since a leaked draft opinion indicating they would overturn national abortion rights was published last month.

In the draft opinion published by Politico, Justice Samuel A. Alito Jr. said abortion laws should return to the state legislatures, thus overturning 1973’s landmark Roe v. Wade decision.

Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. said the draft opinion was authentic but noted that it did not represent a final ruling. He ordered the court’s marshal to investigate who leaked the document.

The abortion ruling is expected to be issued by the end of June.

The incident occurred just hours after the Department of Homeland Security had issued a new terror alert warning that the looming abortion decision could become a nexus for political violence.

“Given a high-profile U.S. Supreme Court case about abortion rights, individuals who advocate both for and against abortion have, on public forums, encouraged violence, including against government, religious, and reproductive healthcare personnel and facilities, as well as those with opposing ideologies,” the department said, placing the abortion decision alongside anger at ongoing chaos at the U.S.-Mexico border and the upcoming 2022 elections as potential flashpoints.

The justices also have had round-the-clock security at their homes after progressives have continually called for protests.

Senators last month passed a bill to increase security for the justices, giving them the kind of protection available to senior members of Congress or the Executive Branch.

Democratic leaders in the House have yet to act on that legislation.

Sen. John Cornyn, Texas Republican and sponsor of the bill, said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi needs to act now.

“The arrest of this individual proves these threats to the Justices’ lives are horrifyingly real, and it’s unconscionable for House Democrats to leave their families without police protection for even one more day,” Mr. Cornyn said.

Sen. Marco Rubio, Florida Republican, also requested the Justice Department probe threats against the justices.

Former White House press secretary Jen Psaki refused to condemn the conduct outside the homes, saying the White House supports peaceful protesting.
Legal scholars, though, said the protesters could run afoul of law in an attempt to obstruct justice.

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan, a Republican, said that the U.S. Marshals Service and Montgomery County Police acted quickly. The state police and the Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center are also assisting in the investigation.

“The heightened security at the homes of the justices began after a request Governor Youngkin and I made to Attorney General [Merrick] Garland last month. We will continue to partner with both federal and local law enforcement officials to help ensure these residential areas are secure,” Mr. Hogan said in a statement. “I call on leaders in both parties in Washington to strongly condemn these actions in no uncertain terms. It is vital to our constitutional system that the justices be able to carry out their duties without fear of violence against them and their families.”

Conservatives have blamed Democratic politicians for the heated action focusing on the high court justices.

Sen. Ben Sasse, Nebraska Republican, said that President Biden must condemn the violence and threats against the sitting justices and that Senate Majority Leader Charles E. Schumer needs to recant his yelling outside the high court from an earlier term where he said, “Brett Kavanaugh will reap the whirlwind.”

Mr. Schumer, New York Democrat, was outraged over a separate case dealing with abortion during a prior term.

“Thank God that law enforcement stopped this lunatic. Political violence is un-American,” Mr. Sasse said.

Carrie Severino, president of the Judicial Crisis Network, said the high court should go ahead and release the abortion ruling as soon as possible since violence and threats against justices are at an all-time high.

“The danger now is very much not theoretical,” Ms. Severino told Fox News. “This is why we don’t have protests at their houses, we have them at the court.”

A fence has also been erected around the Supreme Court for security purposes as protests have also taken place there, in addition to the private homes of the conservative justices.

ken place there, in addition to the private homes of the conservative justices.

Did he bring his stuff with him from Seattle/Semi Valley? or did he quire it when he got there. How can someone from out of state buy a gun in Maryland? The state I live doesn't allow it. Who helped him? Where did he get the money for all of he equipment and travel? He wanted to make sure he damaged the Second Amendment? Is this a thing with these radical shooters? This feels very fishy...JMO

Nicholas John Roske, Brett Kavanaugh Suspect: 5 Fast Facts You Need to Know

icholas John Roske is the armed, zip-tie carrying suspect who is accused of threatening to kill U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.Roske’s name was released via an unsealed arrest affidavit. Online records say Nicholas Roske, 26, is from Simi Valley, California. A LinkedIn page in the name of Nicholas Roske of Simi Valley says that he worked as an office manager at a pest control company.
A criminal complaint accuses Roske of “attempts to kidnap or murder, or threatens to assault, kidnap or murder a United States Judge, to wit: a current Justice of the United States Supreme Court.” It outlines a number of items he’s accused of bringing with him to Kavanaugh’s neighborhood, including duct tape, zip ties, and a pistol. The suspect also goes by the names Nicholas Roske and Nick Roske.
Read the complaint in full here: Nicholas Roske Affidavit.

The arrest comes on the heels of a Wisconsin judge being zip-tied and murdered in his own home by a man he sentenced years before and escalating threats against members of the U.S. Supreme Court. Threats against the court have been a rising concern since the leak of a draft memo that indicated the court, including Kavanaugh, may overturn Roe v. Wade.
That leak drove Roske’s anger; in addition, he was angry because he thought Kavanaugh would help loosen gun control laws after mass shootings, the affidavit alleges.
Kavanaugh is a conservative justice nominated by former President Donald Trump. He was confirmed after a bruising nomination battle that included 35-year-old allegations that he sexually assaulted a woman while he was in high school. He denied those allegations.
Through a spokesman, President Joe Biden condemned the suspect’s actions “in the strongest terms,” according to Fox News, which added that the president is advocating for greater protection for courts and judges.
Here’s what you need to know:

    1. Roske, Who Was Armed With a Pistol & Other Items, Is Accused of Saying He Was ‘Thinking of Giving His Life a Purpose’ by Breaking Into Kavanaugh’s Home & Killing Him, Courts Records Allege

    FacebookNick Roske

The arrest affidavit says that, at 1:05 a.m., June 8, 2022, two United States Deputy Marshals saw “an individual dressed in black clothing and carrying a backpack and a suitcase” get out of a taxicab in front of Kavanaugh’s home.
Roske is accused of saying that he was “thinking about how to give his life a purpose and decided that he would kill the Supreme Court Justice after finding the Justice’s Montgomery County address on the Internet.”
The affidavit alleges that, when Roske got out of the taxicab that stopped in front of Kavanaugh’s residence, he looked at two deputy U.S. Marshals who were standing next to their parked vehicle and then turned to walk down the street.
Shortly thereafter, a man who said he was Nicholas John Roske called the Montgomery County Emergency Communications Center and said he was “having suicidal thoughts and had a firearm in his suitcase,” according to the allegations in the complaint.

GettySupreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh is sworn in to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Capitol Hill on September 27, 2018 in Washington, DC.

He told the call taker he came from California to “kill a specific United States Supreme Court justice,” the court records contend.
    Authorities responded and arrested Roske.
Roske “further indicated that the had purchased the Glock pistol and other items for the purpose of breaking into the justice’s residence and killing the Justice as well as himself,” the affidavit says.
Patricia McCabe, the Court’s public information officer, told Heavy in an emailed statement, referring to Wednesday, June 8, 2022:
At approximately 1:50 a.m. today, a man was arrested near Justice Kavanaugh’s residence. The man was armed and made threats against Justice Kavanaugh. He was transported to Montgomery County Police 2nd District.
Montgomery County police told The Washington Post that they responded to a call for service near Kavanaugh’s home in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and arrested the suspect.
They believe he “came in from out of state with the intent to kill Kavanaugh,” Shiera Goff, spokesman for the department, told The Post. He was in the area between 1:14 and 1:45 a.m. on June 8, according to Goff.
The suspect did not make it inside Kavanaugh’s home. It’s not clear whether Kavanaugh or his family members were inside the home at the time.
Roske is scheduled to have an initial appearance in U.S. District Court in Greenbelt at 3 p.m. June 8, according to a press release from the U.S. Department of Justice, announcing the charges. He faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison.

Online records do indicate that Roske previously lived in a Seattle apartment.
On Facebook, where the suspect went by the name Nick Eddie Roske, he posted only a few pictures of himself. No political posts were visible. One of the 64 people on his friend’s list confirmed that Nicholas Roske used the name Eddie in high school and was the same person as the suspect pictured above. Early this morning, I was briefed on an incident that occurred near the residence of Justice Brett Kavanaugh and his family. I want to thank the US Marshals Service and Montgomery County Police for acting quickly to apprehend the suspect and prevent him from causing any harm. Maryland State Police and the Maryland Coordination and Analysis Center are providing assistance with the investigation.

In May, Axios obtained an internal Department of Homeland Security memo that discussed rising threats against SCOTUS in the wake of the Roe v. Wade leak.
The threats, that also targeted politicians and others “are likely to persist and may increase leading up to and following the issuing of the Court’s official ruling,” Axios reported, quoting the memo.
The memo reported that threats were coming from people both opposed to and supportive of abortion.
“Some racially or ethnically motivated violent extremists’ embrace of pro-life narratives may be linked to the perception of wanting to ‘save white children’ and ‘fight white genocide,'” the memo said, according to Axios.
“…the memo warns that this time, extremist acts could come from abortion-rights proponents as well,” Axios reported.
NBC News also obtained the internal memo and reported that the National Capital Region Threat Intelligence Consortium “has identified at least 25 violent threats on social media that were referred to law enforcement agencies for further investigation” since May 2, 2022.
“Some of these threats discussed burning down or storming the U.S. Supreme Court and murdering Justices and their clerks, members of Congress, and lawful demonstrators,” the memo said, according to NBC, which reported that “the authors also noted several social media accounts that encouraged violence at abortion-rights rallies…”
In Madison, Wisconsin, in early May 2022, a group that supports overturning Roe vs. Wade was firebombed. “If abortions aren’t safe, then you aren’t either,” a message was scrawled on the wall by a group calling itself Jane’s Revenge. In early June, a Christian pregnancy center that opposes abortion was the target of arsonists who wrote “Jane was here,” Fox News reported.
