PHOENIX, AZ - Gaming revenue has seen an increase for the first time since 2007 according to the Arizona Department of Gaming .

The Department announced Friday that tribal contributions to the state for the quarter, which ended Sept. 30, will total nearly $21.7 million.
This increase comes after 10 consecutive quarters of decline and is a 1.1 percent increase from the same quarter of previous fiscal year.

In compliance with the Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compact, Indian tribes that operate casinos give one to eight percent of specified gross gaming revenue back to the state of Arizona and its cities, town and counties.

Tribal contributions help to fund Instructional Improvement Fund, Trauma and Emergency Services Fund, Arizona Wildlife Conservation Fund, State Tourism Fund, Problem Gambling Education, Treatment and Prevention and the Arizona Department of Gaming operating costs.
