Boehner: Climate bill a 'pile of s--t'

Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) had a few choice words about House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) landmark climate-change bill after its passage Friday.

When asked why he read portions of the cap-and-trade bill on the floor Friday night, Boehner told The Hill, "Hey, people deserve to know what's in this pile of s--t."

Using his privilege as leader to speak for an unlimited time on the House floor, Boehner spent an hour reading from the 1200-plus page bill that was amended 20 hours before the lower chamber voted 219-212 to approve it.

Eight Republicans voted with Democrats to pass the bill; 44 House Democrats voted against it.

Pelosi's office declined to comment on Boehner's jab. But one Democratic aide quipped, "What do you expect from a guy who thinks global warming is caused by cow manure?"

Even though Sen. Majorty Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) holds the bill's fate in his hands, House Republicans intend to hammer Speaker Pelosi's signature climate-change measure over recess.

And GOP Conference Chairman Rep. Mike Pence (Ind.) said "we have only just begun to fightâ€

Did anyone in Congress read this bill? Wasn't it over 1,000 pages and then at 3 am, the same day they're to vote on it, an amendment of over 300 pages was added???? How many times are we hearing members of Congress vote on bills they don't even read? Guess it's a big game of bribes, phone calls, pressure of all kinds that cause them to vote one way or another. It's a disgrace!

And is anyone in the media reporting the details of the bill? How about reporting some informative investigative news for a change msm instead of spin!

Heard in the bill other states would be required to adopt California's environmental laws. Has anyone else heard that? Oh, the other states are going to love that one. We're known for being the least business friendly state as it is.

Our federal government is totally out of control and not representing the true interests of the American people. Just hope enough people get informed enough by the 2010 elections.

Look at this short youtube. My Rep. Mark Kirk from Illinois, a republican says that he read every page. And he still voted for it. He's one of the '8.' I've read local political blogs and he's definitely getting heat for it.

Video is highlighted on his website. He's proud of this???

06/26/09: Congressman Kirk reads the American Clean Energy and Security Act prior to Friday’s vote on the legislation. The bill is more than 1,000 pages long.

My Rep Bob Etheridge (D-NC) voted for it too. I found out way too late that they were protesting at his office yesterday in Raleigh, I would have sent my brother as I am in Canada.

I searched WRAL and Raleigh's News and Observer sites and so far NOT ONE WORD on the protest!

If the morons that voted for this scam had an ounce of common sense it would have told them that when you have 300 pages slipped into a bill in the middle of the night before the vote it CANNOT be good! Common sense should tell these brain dead individuals to vote no if they have not read it! They signed a contract without even reading it. What person in their right mind would do that? NONE!
