Brazilian Family Wants to Bring Sean Back From NJ


The Brazilian family of a 9-year-old boy returned by court order to his U.S. father says it will still fight to regain custody.

Lawyers for the Brazilian relatives of Sean Goldman say they will push forward with a request from his Brazilian grandmother to allow the boy to make his wishes known in court.

The request was initially denied but the Supreme Court has not issued a final ruling. The highest court doesn't convene until February.

A Supreme Court judge ordered Sean returned to his father, New Jersey resident David Goldman, shortly before Christmas. The two have since returned to the United States and are back in Jersey.

Goldman's nightmare custody battle began in 2004. His wife took Sean on what was supposed to be a two-week trip to her native Brazil. She never returned. She divorced David, remarried and died in child birth.

David fought for custody but was blocked by Sean's maternal grandmother. New Jersey officials and even President Obama took notice and got involved.

Now Sean is back in New Jersey for the first time in five years. His American relatives say the next step is reacquainting him with his American family, enrolling him in school, and maybe even joining little league.

The boy arrived late Monday night.
The 9-year-old boy at the center of an international custody battle that grabbed the attention of the world, is back home in New Jersey. Sean Goldman arrived with his father, David Goldman, just after 10 Monday night. Their dark SUV pulled up to the Goldman's home in Tinton Falls adorned with Christmas lights and festive candy canes on the driveway.

Father and son were reunited in Brazil on Christmas eve after a 5 year fight between Sean's father and his family in Brazil. Brazil's Chief Justice ruled that Sean belonged with his father. The two left Brazil and headed to Florida for some time to bond before ultimately heading home to New Jersey.

Two things:

1. What is the probability that the boy's mother's intent from the get-go was to secure an American anchor?

2. Why don't these jackasses mind their own business and leave this family alone to heal?

The boy has a father who has proven himself responsible, capable, and every bit as loving as anychild could have. What right does anyone else have to demand custody of a child that is not theirs? (see #1)

'nuff said! The father was awarded custody LONG ago, so bug off Granny! You want to see the boy? YOU ABIDE BY OUR LAWS NOW...

I heard that there are still more than 60 American kids in Brazil in the same situation.
And after all this five-year mess with Sean, Granny should be lucky if she gets some emailed photos.

I wish they'd just leave the boy and his DAD alone! What a bunch of selfish a$$es. Just thinking of themselves!
