Perhaps it is telling of the times, but my first thought was that this case was being heard in the UK, not Sudan.

Her lawyer says he got death threats. They mean to take sharia law with them. Where they are still the minority, they ask for it only for them. When they become the majority, they start talking about sharia for everyone, as in parts of Africa.

After reading an earlier post on what lashings are really like, I'm glad they at least won't subject her to that. A man described nearly passing out from pain and his back was full of welts from 20 lashes. The gang rape victim's sentence went from 100 to 200 when she tried to appeal for the attackers to be more properly punished. 200 Lashes! For being the victim! I don't think any of us knows how grotesque and barbaric that really is. I hope she survives. I'm certain many crimes are not reported because of these cases. You know, we call those "teddy" bears after Theodore Roosevelt shot a young bear while on a hunt - I think the name "teddy" is more offensive under the circumstances than Muhammed. But my underwear isn't all twisted up over it.

I have a real need to chime in here.
I am sure the mods on here have there hand on the delete button the second I hit this thread.
Cant say i blame them.
I promise i will Try to be Civil.
here is my opinion Regarding Islam in General.
I find it funny that this So called "Religion of Peace" tolerates the beheading torture of there own people and Says Nothing.
A Religion that treats woman as 3rd class objects
When members of there own Religion in the name of said religion Tortures and kills Infidels the silence is Deafening.
but if i dare to draw a picture, make a joke, or disparage the So Called "Religion of peace" the masses of followers of the So called "Religion of Peace' Show there tolerance By Demanding i be Drawn and Quartered.
This is the difference if i make a pope joke catholics may get mad if i slam Christians they may get mad but if i slam Islam i may find myself Dead.
and this is the "Religion of Peace"?
Islam claims that .0002% are jihadists the rest are good fun loving muslums.
They should have no problem cleaning there own house.
Matter of fact it is there obligation to do so.
signed,
Boston the Infidel.

Muslims Condemn Terrorist Attacks
This page focuses on condemnations of the 9/11 terrorist attacks and other terrorist incidents since then as well as of terrorism in general. It is not a complete listing of all condemnations written or spoken by Muslims but is intended to provide a representative sample.
It has often been claimed in the media that Muslims are "silent" and do not condemn terrorism. This page is intended to refute that claim. Muslims have not been silent. Not even close. See also How American Muslims Really Responded to September 11 for more information about the Muslim response to 9/11. And another listing is at Statements Against Terror. Also Muslim Voices Against Terrorism. Related commentary at Friedman Wrong About Muslims Again , by Juan Cole and The Myth of Muslim Condemnation of Terror by Ali Eteraz.
