    A new Orange County builder confirms it is close to acquiring the 50-acre Lambert Ranch in Irvine for a gated, luxury community with 169 new homes.

    No terms were released by The New Home Co. β€” yes, that is its name β€” for the land at Portola Parkway and Sand Canyon Road but it said the deal β€œis scheduled to close by year end and is expected to be the largest residential land transaction in Orange County in 2010.β€
